SportyGordy,
Verification of source - Indian Website. 750 motorcycles in 2009. This number is stated in other locations on the web but its better to get it from the horses mouth.
First Press Release magazine article titled “How to Spend it”
“Indian started in 1901 – two years before Harley-Davidson – and introduced the first V-twin, air-cooled engine
in 1906 which, more than 100 years later, remains the most popular cruiser engine design,” says Julius. “In 1953 the company went bankrupt and was relaunched in 1998, followed by further bankruptcy in 2003.” Harley-Davidson, meanwhile, powered from near-bankruptcy in the early 1980s to a multibillion-dollar success story that Julius
hopes to replicate. However, he admits it’s a David versus Goliath situation right now. Harley-Davidson sells around 300,000 bikes a year; Indian’s target for this year is just 750, although he believes the longterm figure is nearer 30,000 per year.
Hope this is helpful to someone................
