Nice surprise today, new bike arrived at dealer

Got a nice surprise today, my '06 Road Glide arrived and I got to check it out just after it was uncrated and put on the lift at the dealer to start set up and the installation of all the goodies I have planned for it. There are pics in my photo album, link below. Not much to see yet but after a few days work this will be a pretty special RG. Can't wait to ge it on the road.

Well it has been a week and the dealer still is not done installing the mods on my bike.  I had really wanted to get it by this weekend since the weather here is good and I have some time to ride but now looks like it will not be until next week.  Service manaer said I get the "prize" for installing most parts on a new delivery this month.  I thought big deal just finish my bike.  Patience is not one of my virtues.  [smiley=brood.gif]

Good grief.  Are you really having so much done that it's really taking a week of shop time?  Or are they just that dam*ed slow?

They are slow.  I suspect they have not actually been working on it all week and pushed it aside for other projects.  Big stuff they have to do was the crate motor swap then stage one and mufflers.  Other stuff was chrome front end and tour pack set up and then all the stereo add ons, then all the chrome pieces (lots of those).  No doubt it takes time to do all this but if a guy stayed on it would be done in 3 days in my estimation.

My bike got uncrated at the dealer on 9/9, I first saw it in the shop on 9/10.  Today is 9/20 and today they tell me it "might" be ready tomorrow but that the tour pak I ordered has not yet arrived.  So 11 days later I "might" get to pick up my new ride without all the parts I ordered.   To top it all off hurricaine Rita might just make a visit here to my neck of the woods on the Texas Coast this weekend.

Due to the Hurricane Rita since I am on the coast we left town on Wednesday so I did not get to pick up the bike yet.  I have arrived back to the Texas Coast today.  Lucky for mke Rita went further up the coast near the Louisiana border so it really had no effect where I live at all except for the big scare and the lost work time for thursday and friday.  I was not prepared to come home to a disastger area and thank my lucky stars that this time I averted a disaster.  Bad thing is my good fortune is another persons bad fortune I don't wish that upon anyone either.   I have family and friends up that way also so I hope they are all fine when it is over.

I will drop by the Harley shop tomorrow and see if I can get lucky and finally get to pick up my new prize.

Well FINALLY today I got to pick up the bike.  Just had time to put about 100 miles on it.  Man this is one fine ride.  It is like getting a new girlfriend but one that already knows how you like it and every move you like to make.  The fullsack mufflers sound great.  Still doing the break in so have not had a chance to see all she's got.  Took a long time and still not everything is on the bike that I bought but still I am a happy camper.
