Clearview vs Klock Werks Windshields
« on: January 06, 2009, 10:48:01 PM »

Has anyone had a chance to compare the two? Any feedback would be appreciated, considering changing to one of them.
I tried to search for Klock Werks windshield, and had no luck, Thanks for any feedback.

just changed out my shield got a 9 1/2 recurve clear view  the stock shield buffet was really bad the clear view was better but still buffet so i ordered a 10 1/2 clear view much better  still a little buffet but i can see now.  im 6.0 and the 9 1/2 threw the wind about 1 inch below the top of my helment.  anyway like the 10 1/2 inch better  dont want to go much taller for the looks and any taller would look right tru the top edge of the shield. any way hope this helped some

Mr. D it depends on what you want from the shield. You are comparing apples   :apple: to oranges  :orange: here. The Clearview will give you much more wind protection than the KW. I have the KW and like it for summer use.  My BSR (Back Seat Rider) does not like it at all as the wind hits her dead on. I switch it out when riding solo and need some air in my face. But, it will not do much to keep the rain off of you.

I just ordered and received the 14 inch recruve from Clear View at the request of my BSR.. Have not had a chance to ride it yet.  Will let you know. She says the 10 stock really beats her up on the back, and lots of wind noise and buffeting.  Expect the Clear View to take four to six weeks. I ordered mine before Thanksgiving and it just showed up today.

Have you checked out Cee Baily windshields I am trying to decide which way to go for Solo use. Check it out.

A fellow rider just put one on his 09 SERG and he loves it but his BSR is very displeased.  I believe both the Baily and the Klock would create a little down force on the front of the bike at higher speeds as well. But for me it just looks better.

Guys, one of our own may be able to get them for you. Jim (HD Dude) has a shop in CA where I got my Klock Werks from (with a small discount, I might add. Thanks Jim)
The KW will give you down force on the fairing but that wind will kick back up onto your face. Hence it's not really designed as a touring shield. It looks cool and will keep you cool. But for distance the Clearview is the winner. Unless of course y'all want to personally bail us out of the economic mess and buy both.  :D

I've got an 8" KW on my '07 FLTR. Did 4500 miles in 15 days to Sturgis & back (by way of Canada around Lake Superior). Didn't think I had a problem at the time. However, all this talk about buffeting and wind, etc., is making me think I should try the CV. Might help my ScalaRider work a little better.

Thanks Guys for all the great feedback, I am 5' 7" and like most like the looks of the KW, but wanted to compare the two, I guess there really is no comparasion. It sounds to me that for touring the CV is the right choice. Any other feedback is welcomed. Thanks again,,

I ordered for ultra8" Windvest (being myself 6´) , which seem to have more curve than Clearview.
Anyone installed Windvest?

JC has one on Terri's Streetglide.  Maybe he can tell you more about it.

hard10, Thanks for the pics,, LOOKS AWESOME!! it sounds to me that if you are riding locally, the KW is probably the ticket. For touring it sounds as though the Clearview re-curve is the ticket---------SO LIKE EVEYTHING ELSE,,,, WHEN IN DOUBT------BUY EM BOTH!!
Thanks to all for your input,, God Bless, and be safe

And to think, it's only taken you two years on this site to figure that out.  :D

Seriously, like you said, around town I would rather have the KW's on but if we go anywhere the stock shield (or better) is the ticket.

After adding the KW on my 06 the first thing I noticed was the improved handling, not what we were looking for. We have been getting hit by some sick ass bee's out here, head ache's, swelling, etc, and I wanted something to throw the damn things over us. Since install we have not been hit and I love the way the KW plants the front wheel. I am 5' 8" and love the shield. I also prefer the look of the shorter shield on a glide. P.S. it is all about the look right? I am the one at the GTG's that is always cleaning my bike..........Sorry 110! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
