clearview windshield
« on: January 08, 2009, 01:40:56 PM »

I know this is like asking which exhaust should I get?  But I am looking for some opinions from those who have the clearview windshields, how tall is yours and do you look over or through.
I am 6' 4" and like looking over the stock shield but would like to get away from the wind noise.  ( not interested in helmet opinions)
10.5" seems like it will not be tall enough
12" I am afraid will be so tall I will be looking right at the top. ( based upon harley 12")

I'm 6.2 with a 33 inseam. I run the 10 1/2 gray tint R.C. like it alot. I would think the 12 inch R.C.for your size would work excellent. You would look over it not through it.

This link has good info on determining the proper height shield based on your needs.

I'm 6'1" and have a lightly tinted 10.5" with recurve and works great.  I,m about nose/mouth level with the top and look over it.
Clearview will make any height you want, not just what's listed.
Have an 8" with recurve blem ordered for my wife.  John said the blem he was sending I would be happy with (blem wise).

Boatman, with the 10.5 on your bike, how is it for your BSR? Does it keep the wind off of her as well? :nixweiss:

Yes it does, but my BSR is only 9 and she's about 50" tall (we both wear 3/4 helmets)..

Okay I talked to John today and I think it is going to be a 10.5 for me.  I taped a card board paper to my windshield to see what a 12" would look like.
I guess I slouch against the backrest because I would definetly be looking through a 12".
Now can I bug some of you with 10.5 clearviews for pictures.
Thanks

I measured the stock use4 windshield at just under 10".  The difference would be the curve and the extra .5"....I was told if you don't take the protective plastic off you can send it back for taller or shorter.
Maybe I will get both the 10.5 and the 12 and just keep the one I like and send the other back...this was what John offered when I talked to him on the phone.
Great guy to work with.

Eagle,

Great reference. Somehow, I had never seen that before.

Thanks!

Guppy,

I'm 6' 4" and I put the 12" on my Ultra. Great wind protection and I can see over it with out any problem. I highly recommend the clearview.

Guppytrash -- I'm the same height as you.  I also had the same problem -- head getting yanked around, noise, etc.  I went with the 12" HD windshield.  It's just right (for me at least).  I can look out over the top with most of my face being protected but more important to me there is no noise -- the wind is going around the outside of the helmet.

Just my $.02 -- well, with this economy, it's probably $.0001 or some such number.
