You can stay in your budget with slip on mufflers (improve sound and performance), less restrictive air filter, and ECM with a canned map instead of a custom dynotune.  The 110 is in it's 3rd year now and there are more canned tuning maps available.  I know you can go to the Power Commander web site and download the canned maps yourself based on your set up.  Good luck.  Most PC tuners know how to do this and will start as a base map to improve from there when dyno tuning.

If this is going to be a temporary set up, look on eBay or on here for used slip on pipes.  Then you can sell them when you are ready to invest more to help finance the change.

1st, some flowers and chocolates or a nice quiet dinner.

Then say you ordered all the parts (that you have already choosen) and went a "wee little tiny" bit over budget but swear it is all you need for now.

D&D exhaust (I like a 2-1 because it keeps the ice in my saddlebag cooler longer), big sukka air cleaner or any decent hi-flo, a tts tuner, it has nice features, tunes 2 bikes (for future reference only). I bought a supert sert before the tts came out dangit, let this be a lesson.  Also a dyno tune (or beg a map of of someone)...

Best of luck...it is easier to ask for forgivness than permission, in my case anyway, that is my modus operendii.

Find something you no longer use or need and sell it to fund further mods. Negotiate doing some work for someone for some $$$ for additional add-ons. Get creative with the financing end of things. Take an advance on future birthday and Christmas gifts!

I agree with everyone else on the items, but let me add that there's no law that says it all has to happen at the same time.

I added the S/E AC (115 after discount) before it left the dealer.  BTW, I don't know about the '09, but on an '08 they try to tell you that you can't use the factory SE A/C cover.  BS!  You can, you just need to add a 1/4" rubber washer as a spacer.

No exhaust mods yet... I figured they'd come in a month or two.   14 month's later I finally found a sound I liked and then low and behold about a month later I found a used set of Fulsac 1.75" right here on this site which is what I was saving for.  Under 200 and I'm happy as a clam with them.

Early this summer I'll put a S-Sert on it and a canned map to start.  Should be around 400 with discount and coupons. A power commander would be cheaper but I had trouble with one in the past and like the added flexability that the s-sert gives you.  But you really can't go wrong as long as you have a tuner who knows it or a canned map that you trust.

Since I do all my own installs,  I'll have everything done for under $750 and only need to do dyno pulls when I want to fine tune it.

Just my 2 cents.

Ride Safe,

I've lived in those shoes for 2 years now, and with the purchase of the SERG, I'll wear them for another few years.

There's actually two legitimate lines of thought here. It all starts with "just letting her breathe a little better". It could be compared to "the leg bone's connecting to the hip bone". Just a better air breather, some slip ons or a complete exhaust, and a slight modification to the ECM to richen her up. The problem with only modifying the leg bone while maintaining a stock hip bone, is the stock hip bone restricts the potential performance of the leg bone. Wifes will generally be ok with a modified hip bone, but, whenever you start modifying the leg bone, even a good woman will get frustrated with your decisions. It's a catch 22. You and I both know you have to modify the leg bone. Do you want your HD to be right or your marriage? If you're like me, I prefer both. $500-$1,000 budget restrictions are unrealistic as we both know, but wives don't know that, at first. Knowledge is power. At some point the wife will figure out the budget is blown. Just how far can you take it before she balks?

The second line of thought is the approach I've decided to take with the second bike, at least for now. No new slip ons. No exhaust change. No ECM changes. It breathes like a man with a sinus infection, but, it's a HD.  I have two. One breathes good, this one doesnt.

Hope this helps.
