Is there a reason
« on: January 09, 2009, 12:10:37 PM »

Can someone explain the backorder for the new heads for my SEUC3? It has been well over 6 weeks and RMHD still says that the status of my order(MOCO recall) is still in backorder. I cannot even get an explanation of why it is taking this long. I just wonder if anyone on the forum knows the answer. Trouble getting the heads manufactured? Or another defective design? I cannot get any answers from the dealer or MOCO. Just wondering. I scheduled this in early November in case anyone wants to know.

SEUC3 is gray.  Specific to that year.  Most folks are having them done in the winter (like me) so there is a run on the parts.

Besides what the others have written: Production might have been slowed down on the '08 engine parts. They may wait for a batch of orders to pile up.

Yes, Inquiring Minds Want To Know!  I called the dealer back in November and gave them my V.I.N. and told them to call me when they get the parts in.  I called to check status last week and was told that the parts are still on back-order.  I'm not real happy... I want to get this over and done before winter is over.

I was told by a HD Service Manager that they can only order for three bikes at a time for the "product enhancement" program and must have V.I.N's to order.  Was also told that they can not have more than one kit setting on the shelf when they get ready to order more. ---- So if this is all accurate, there may be folks that have told dealers to order the parts and the parts have been shipped to the dealers, but have not been installed yet.  These kits setting on the shelf waiting to be installed may be preventing the dealers from ordering additional part kits  :nixweiss:

Just an update for everyone. I received a call late Friday night that my heads were in. The delay was that the granite heads that the dealer was receiving were INCOMPLETE from MOCO. Some heads were not the proper finish(granite) some heads were missing valves, and the workmanship was lacking on others. They reeived a shipment of 5 sets of heads finaly and I took my SEUC3 in yesterday. It was cold here but with leathers it was okay to ride for a while. I was waiting for a ride home and talking to Ron the sales manager and like eveyrone is saying sales suck. From the prices I saw they were not trying to sell them that fast but what offers they have I am not sure. No one was very talkative. Now that does not make sense. I guess service and clothing is keeping the dealers going.  So I am getting the itch to do something and the detachable tourpack is my thought. Has anyone put a parts list together in a PDF or something downloadable? I would like to move my antennae to the fender like the Street Glide(this bike according to the sales manager is the only bike they cannot keep on the floor) I saw the 09 Street Glide and the antennae could be moved to the fill in strip on both sides since these pieces of metal both have the predrilled holes and rubber bushings necessary. From what i can see relocating the antennae to that location would be very practicle and look very nice. I have already installed the HawgWired system and from what I can see it is the Street Glide taillight/license plate bracket and getting those pieces betweent the fender and saddle bags from the Street Glide painted ot match the bike( or can the existing pieces be drilled/cut) and then the quick disconnect bracket for the Ultra Glide. It is the extra "little things" that I am not sure of. Any help with a list would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well I have my new heads. Rode it home and the next day as well. Seems that there is a noticeable incress in low end torque. Performance seems about the same after initial takeoff. I had also asked the to check the hesitation in the throttle. The mechanic came back and said all was well. Probably was due to leak in rear cylinder head. I noticed no such leak. Going to have to take it back of course...still has hesitation. May try different dealer for that since all they did was blow me off. Again I will ask if anyone had put a document or pdf together on parts needed for the quick disconnect of the the tour pack. I have had the dealers figure it but it seems that it comes to $1200 in parts..that seems to be just a bit high. Anyone have a parts list?
