We are home - finally
« on: January 10, 2009, 05:43:53 PM »

Well, after waiting a long and agonizing 5 months, my new SERG is happy to be in her new garage.  Dealer was good enouhg to trailer it home for me since is was 28 degrees and snowing in NJ most of the day.  Most mods have been done but some things have yet to come in, mostly the tour-pak and lowers.  Here is a list of mods I have done.  I love and hate all of you for pointing all these out.  This bike is beautiful but wow, expensive doesnt even cover it.

Fullsac 2.25"'s
Super tuner - for now just general map
Hawg Wired (300amp) w CX series speakers
PIAA xtreme bulbs
Kisan headlight modulator
Motolights on brake caliper
Oil temp gauge in fairing
Rumble passenger footboards
Lowers (black)
removable tour pak - orange
Roland Sand air cleaner (not in yet)
Corbin solo w passenger pillon
Clearview shield- GT small w dark tint

I only could ride down my street so I dont have any first impressions on riding, handling etc.  Here are some others. Sound is great with the Fullsacs. Very nice deep rumble.  Deeper than my Rineharts on last RG. The Hawg Wired sounds good but have to reserve opinion until I am riding and listening.  Here are a couple pics.  Enjoy.

Ya'd think they'd've notice that at the dealer!?!  At least that it wasn't lightin' up, anyway! :nixweiss:

Nice scoot, though! :2vrolijk_21:

How much for the oil temp gauge and what's the part#? Good start on your add-ons. I know you must be dying to ride but at least she's in YOUR garage now...

Light is obvious of course.  Either working or not.  If your ride was only a short one don't immediately assume the instrument isn't registering though.  It takes a bit for the oil to get warm enough to initially move the needle.

Just thought of a potential install error on the gauge's light.  Pre-09 had a bulb with a separate power plug feeding it.  The oil temp gauge kits had the bulb being fed through a PCB on teh back of the instrument rather than socketed for power separately.  But it still took both sockets to power the instrument and the lamp.

Someone wrote recently that the 09 guages illuminate differently.  No separate bulb.  Might take power from source differently too.  If so the isntaller might have just not known/found where or how to feed the light.

You can go to any lighting store and get replacement bulbs.  I think the stock is 35W and the next step up is 55W.  Makes a world of difference on the Moto's.

That was me Don, in this pic you can see how the numerals are illuminated on the other 09 Guages. They do have a separate bulb but it is not a separate power to the bulb like the other guages.

TLR....look to the side of the guage between the bezel and face to see if you can see the light. If you can the light is working, that is how the P&A guage is, much different than the other 09 guages. Also the guage is powered up as the needle is up at the 100 degree point. They do take some time to come up from there, A short ride around the block will not warm the oil up beyond that.
