thunderheaders and my 08 ultra
« on: January 11, 2009, 01:32:51 AM »

just had the local harley dealer put a set of thunderheader tru duals and a sert plus a stage 1 kit on my bike. a few observations and comments please.1 sound of pipes is loud but very nice throught the range.2 fit is nice but tips are really bad,the right side pipe has the weld on the exterior of the pipe, not inside like the left 3 performance increase is nice but has a slight hesitation when first throttle is applied then catches and flies 4 slight miss in the 2 to 3 thousand range upon accleration. will take the bike back to dealer for porblems but wanted some advise before thanks bike is a 08 ultra classic sreaming eagle.

Sounds to me like you need to take it back to the dealer and make the tech. remap the sert again. My guess is thats where the problem is.

Definately sounds like a tuning issue to me. When I first  put tuee duals an air cleaner and a larger TB on the dealers dyno was broke. They put in a map they had laying around had similar issues. When they got the dyno up and going and put a proper tune on it the bike runs great with no stumbles or hesitations.

Thunderheader........isn't another exhaust that sounds better or performs better.  But I also think it's the reason I'm going deaf prematurely. :nixweiss:

The dip right around the 2k-2500 rpm range is common with Thuderheader (or any 2 into 1 exhaust.....some are less than others) but who rides in that range when you're twisting the wick and running it through the gears?

He used their duals JC. Sounds like the tune. And ya might need the Super SERT for the '08 to work on TBW settings. ;)
