Put the bike on A jack and take the bottom bolts out of the shocks and it should drop enough, to make it easy put A small jack under the rear tire.

It's a bolt that comes through from the inside Naitram.  Unless you've got just really big hands you can get up there to replace it.  I do have hands that don't fit so well even when making a little room but have got at them with a universal socket on the end of an extension long enough to reach it.

I found it easier to pull the rear tire when I changed the light bar,  my hands aren't going to fit.

I believe the bolt size is 5/16 thread. Did the paint get messed up? Mine came loose on my Road King years back and did a number on the fender [smiley=furious.gif]

Neal, if you want to get real energetic and take off the other bolt too here's a different light I always liked better that bolts up in the same holes.

no jack handy so i removed the tail light and back plate the then removed the license plat to make some room and i could work a small ratchet through the tail light opening,

thankfully no scrathes in the paint

I had mine come loose once last year, so I used some 'Blue' loctite on them, and it has not come loose again. I have a small hand, so it was relativlely easy..... [smiley=laugh.gif]
Now the only thing i had left to do is change the front motor mount, I am not looking fwd to that.. [smiley=confused5.gif]
