Idle adjustment
« on: January 11, 2009, 09:47:09 PM »

This is probably a dumb question but is there a way I can adjust my idle speed without taking it into the dealer? I have an 07 SEUC. If so, could someone explain where the adjustment is? Thanks in advance.

The short answer is no, you can't adjust the idle speed.  They only way it can be adjusted is through reprogramming the ECM with the Digital Technician equipment at the dealer, or with a tuning device like the SERT/SEST, or with a replacement ECM.

Why do you want to adjust the idle speed?

They just put a new engine in it and it seems to be idling a little lower around 800-900 rpm's. It used to idle at 1000. The engine seems to shake the bike alot more at an idle also. I've got about 550 miles on the new engine also. The bike used to idle pretty smooth with the previous engine.

Take it back and have them fix it.  You might have an intake air leak or some other issue that is causing the rough idle, and the dealer should correct it.  Why did they replace the engine?

Yea, I will probably have to take it back to the dealer. They replaced the engine because it was leaking again. It would have been the 4th set of gaskets in 10,000 miles. Also, when they tore it down the last time I had oil leaking out of the front clyinder into the intake. This was after they did the enhancement upgrade so it was the new heads leaking.
