Are you finding that most dealers are asking MSRP?
« on: September 14, 2005, 07:33:27 PM »

Just curious if most of the folks that have purchased or looked at the 06' CVO lineup are getting them at MSRP?

Harley Davidson of Sacramento has always been MSRP for as long as I can remember.

I called about 25 dealers in search of an 06 SE Ultra in Black/Charcoal and found a range of MSRP up to 4K plus.  This is in the N.TX area.  Problem was,  most of the msrp dealers were booked out, or only had green ones available, or couldn't give me a delivery date for a black one. So, I paid 2K over to secure one about an hour form my house. It was worth it for me to not deal with shipping from out of state, and if I do have any problems with warranty, I wanted to be able to have the selling dealer help me out.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Saw a Green one today in Tyler, TX.  Asking MSRP +$2000.  Had a deal working over the phone with a guy in Houston, must be desparate.

I don't have the newest cycle catalogue from H-D , but there is a nominal set up and freight fee at all MSRP dealers..I think its 725 dollars.just under a grand.

I just bought the Autumn Haze FLHTCUSE at my local dealer and paid MSRP
If I wouldn't have gone back to parts counter and found another $3k in additional stuff
Still plan to put the Freedom Exhaust on it next week.

There is nothing phony about the charge. H-D charges each dealer a freight charge..approx. $320 on the CVO Ultra. The dealer charges a set up fee..Sac H-D is $725.
Includes several hours of assembly...etc. and cleaning and detailing. The fee is not out of line for the time spent. Labor ain't free...as Hubbard would say "there endeth the lesson"  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I'm thinking V-Rods and Buells must be going to have a different set of rules.  The local shop here still has old VRods and has a red 05 CVO V-Rod that's been on the floor or a long long long time.  It just doesn't sell.  There is also a sign over where the Buells sit that advertises "$500.00 all new 03 and 04 Buells."

I bought my Haze in up state New York for $ 32,230.00

List for the bike and $230.00 for the freight

No charge for set up.

But had to go to N.Y. to get ........

Chicago has the green ones, 6 weeks ago they were $3-5 over and they would not talk to me about a Haze. That is how I found it in New York.......

Today you can buy the green ones at list......they are still sitting.

The 1 I have coming ,, I paid MSRP,, and all the extra added on was State Sales Tax,, and a $50 Liscense Fee,,  no set-up fee.  I had been to 5 other dealers,, and only 1 dealer was selling the bikes for MSRP.  They salespeople would say the prices are higher,, because of supply and demand.    Hmmmmmm,,  go  figure!!!

I called 6 different H-D shops here in Florida.  Some were asking $4K over MSRP.  The ones asking MSRP only had the green Mountain Dew bike.  I called the Albany, Georgia shop and they had the Autumn Haze bike coming in in December and no one on the waiting list for it.  I asked what they were asking for it, and they said, "Whatever MSRP is."  I asked what I needed to do to get it?  They said, "A $2K deposit."  I couldn't get the Mastercard out quick enough.  Now, December can't get here quick enough.
