Carbon footprint
« on: January 12, 2009, 11:51:13 PM »

I was watching a show on Speed Channel and the guy was talking about how many miles the average driver drives in a day was around 30 miles.
The host then made a comment about how he drives a whole lot more than that and how it reflects on his carbon footprint.

It then donned on me that pretty much everything I like to do burns fossil fuels.  I have been told the success of a man could always be measured in how many cylinders he owns.   :huepfenlol2:  They all count: cars, motorcycles, boats, lawnmowers, atv, power washer, truck, classic cars....

So I guess I will never get be the poster child for the tree huggers, but lets hear it how many cylinders do you own?

32 cylinders for me

Don't blast me I am all for saving the earth...without it there would be no place to ride.

We have trees but we do not hug them, just planted 3,000 more two years ago.

BUT, I have 51 cylinders  I need them all. ;D

Only 22.  I need something with a V12, or a radial 18.

I think I only have 14, since I put my lawn mower out in the trash.

Don't have a lot of cylinders but I know I do a lot of oil changes (2 motorcycles, generator, power washer, 2 lawn mowers, snow blower, weed trimmer, 3 cars).  I'm holding out for the flex fuel lawn mower.

18 cylinders:
  2 cages=14 (8+6)
  bike=2
  self-propelled push mower=1
  weed trimmer=1

The car can carry up to 5 passengers (typically 1-2) avg. 25 mpg , SUV 8 (typically 1-3) avg. 15 mpg, and bike 2 (more likely 1 for now) avg. 40 mpg. Also have a 8 cylinder classic car getting restored but it is not on the road, stripped down to nothing right now.

I average 40 miles round trip commuting to work 5 days a week, wife the same with seasonal work. I use the car most of the time but hope to use the bike more when the weather & roads are okay for riding.

I recycle at all times what I can, when I can, especially at home to keep my garbage minimal. I'm conscious about any form of littering  & impact to nature anywhere I go.

I think tree huggers need to let go so we all can enjoy the forest. Anyone who spikes a tree should get the death penalty, I have lots of logging friends that farm selected forests legally & in consideration of the environment, they are not the reason for global warming or the elimination of old growth or possible extinction of the spotted owl.  They should direct concern to the government & corporations controlling our national & state forests or invest in property & grow their own private forest, but then that takes a lot more work than hugging a tree and playing protester anarchy.

That's my slant on carbon footprint, eventually we all leave the same amount when we are buried 6 feet under, my wife & I want to be cremated then...

One way to minimize carbon footprints is do not walk through a bin filled with carbon.  Especially if you are married to a gal who prefers white carpets (not me).

Cylinder count: 38
Cars/truck: 22
Boat: 6
Bikes:4
Lawn destruction equipment: 6

Except for the lawn stuff, most burn premium or super.

After reviewing the above, obviously I need more bikes.  ;)

I counted up to 28 cylinders... including boat, tractor, lawnmowers...

Try counting tire/wheels..... oh my! :o  Everything with cylinders has tires and lots of stuff with out cylinders have tires.

Takes petroleum to make tires... Ok, I'm starting to feel a little guilty... kinda bummed-out  :(...

Phsyc!! ... Not Really  :D

You nailed it!!!  Winter blues have set it in.
I figured somewhere along the way one of us was gonna make a comment to make me laugh out loud and you were the first.

Oh and thanks for reminding me about the weedwacker, don't forget generators.

now 33

Some one here has to be in the triple digits.  Anybody own a contruction company or a trucking company?
