When I first moved into my home out here 11 years ago, Miramar was still the Navy's Top Gun School. It's a Marine Air Base now and still quite busy but not like in those days. Anyway, it was written into the papework on the sale of my home that San Diego county was home to many military installations and that the sound of miltary aircraft was a fact of life if you lived in certain areas (of which my town [Poway]) was one being close to Miramar. Anyway, I call it the sound of freedom and love watching all of the fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft in the area. The only time it gets me is when I'm jammin up I-15 on LD going through Miramar and some fighter jock in an FA-18 is doing touch and go's about 10 ft above the highway. With my hearing problem, I don't notice till they're right on top of me and more than once I've almost jumped off LD in surprise
