Difficulty reading red gauges at night
« on: January 14, 2009, 08:22:19 PM »

I notice as I get older my eyesight is worsening.  I must use reading glasses for close work.  I can see fine otherwise.  I have much difficulty seeing my gauges at night.
Does anybody else have this problem?  Would the Dakota Digital gauges be a solution?  Can anybody offer some advise.              Thanks  Randy

The red guages are really preferable at night as they won't kill your night vision as brighter colors will.  Of course, on-coming high beams will take care of that w/o any problem.  :'( har! Best be looking for deer anyway.  :nervous: spyder

Friend of mine experienced a similar problem with night vision decreasing.  I don't see as well at night as i used to - a function of age.  Might consider getting your eyes checked.  My friend had a procedure - something with his cornea (operation - replacement?) - and now he sees LOTS better.

Yeah!  I keep forgrtting where I am. Sarcasm is the norm.  I thought since walking with cheap reading glasses is hard.  Regular glasses on a bike would be impossible.

I agree the small guages on the 09 FLTRSE3 are really hard to read. They changed the way they light and it makes the numbers very hard to read.

i went to the auto parts store and bought red light bulbs.   Went in easily and they light up a whole lot better than the ones that come with the littlle red condom on them. Easy to read too, and it's an eazy fix.
