HD Racetuner, PC,??? I'm confused.
« on: September 17, 2005, 08:03:43 PM »

I just got the bike, I like the Vance & Hines Ovals, I think I'm gonna do the VAnce & Hines True duals, or dresser duals as they call them. I went to my freindly neighborhood HD dealer and price the SE AC kit and they told me the HD Racetuner is the way to go, best thing on the market, beats all others hands down, and its HD so no problem with the warranty. Now, I dont HAVE to do this, the bike sounds and rides fine. But if there is a little more HP to get and it runs better, who am I to complain? Its only about a grand after all is said and done. Then I get my tour pack and I'm set. So give me some advice, I'm sure you guys have hashed this out more than once on this board. Help out a newbie. I Friggin love this bike!  I need dependability too! Powercommander, Fuel Pack??? Do I have to do anything if I do the pipes and the SE Air Cleaner? HD owners manual says if you dont you could have serious motor trouble?????????? [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=cool2.gif]

CVOwner,
Any modifications to exhaust should include air intake and fuel intake. It would best serve the bike if you consider all three in a stage one modification. If you are modifying the exhaust to have it more

Firedood,

Makes good common sense. What have you done to your sled. And, isnt the Orange/Black the best fastest CVO on the road? [smiley=cool3.gif]

CVOwner,
I have added the SE Race Tuner, SE Breather, and Rinehart's. Contemplating changing cams (probably will go with gear drive), maybe some head work. I really enjoy the way it rides now, and don't want to get to radical that I can't enjoy it.

I had contemplated the Power Commander but after talking w/my tuner and he liked the Race Tuner better I decided to go with it.

You are right..... The Orange/Black SEEG is the best/fastest (at least that's what anyone that owns one will say).  [smiley=laugh.gif]

I just had the highflow AC and Rineharts put on. Asked to have the HD Racetuner put on also but the girl didn't right it down on the order. So I picked up the bike without the tuner and the kid said it runs fine with out it. Says if I have performance issue bring it back and he would put the PC in rather than the HD tuner. No problem so far ( 200 miles ) other than the nut coming off. Excaust flim is black on the inside of the pipe so far which is a good thing, Right. As long as it not grey which would mean a lean condition.

Lugnut,

This is from the harley dealer? I was told you had to at least have the ECM download for 150 bucks. The bike wouldnt run properly with the change of pipes  and AC the way it was set at the factory. I guess my info is incorrect. Did you see a difference in power, sound, what? Also, did you get the slip on Rhineharts or the whole true dual setup? [smiley=cool2.gif]

I would say WRONG, CVo is right. You need at a minimum the download.  You would be better off with a PCIII or a Racetuner, whichever your tuner prefers.

I would find a dealer that knows what they are doing!

I'm with Twolane on this one......for them to tell you "it runs fine without it" is somebody speaking from where the sun doesn't shine.  How does he know if it wasn't dynoed?  What, by his years of experience?  It's a fuel injected bike and a good tuner will tell you that he can't say with any certainty without putting it on the dyno.  Spend the few extra bucks and get the Race Tuner or the PC (whichever your tuner suggests) and then get it "dyno tuned".......a big difference from just getting it "dynoed".

I hear all u. And I agree with what u all say. Just trying to relay what going on. Runs great, sound goods. He also said it had the download done at the factory. Just relaying what I was told and how the bike running. So I need to go to another dealer and pick his or her brian about the set up. Trudual Rineharts and HD SE high flow air kit.
