    • CVO1: CVO SERG - Silver 2009

The reason I pose this question – I ordered the titanium lowers for my 2009 SERG and they arrived all most to the day the SERG arrived. I went to the dealer to see the SERG and had the parts guy bring the lowers in the room my bike was in. Immediately, I mentioned the lowers looked “light” in color, compared to the titanium section of the bike. It was dark and very lousy outside; in addition the bike was not fully uncrated. The lighting in the motorcycle holding room was not adequate to determine for sure so I left and asked the dealer to make sure they matched before putting them on. A week later, I had the bike delivered (because of Boston bad weather, salt, and snow) and placed it in the garage. Most of you will be surprised but it took me a week to get out to the garage and take a good look (a lot of personal things converging at the moment) but when I pulled the bike out in the sun, I could easily see at least a 1 – 1 ½ shade difference from the titanium on the lowers vs. the titanium on the motorcycle – you will never see the difference in a picture, in case I get a “THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS”, similar to how we say “On-line PICS don’t do the paint schemes justice”. Called dealer, they called Harley and to make a long story short, dealer picked up the bike yesterday and plan to have a tribunal with at least 3 people in order to justify ordering a new set of lowers – sales guy said three people in their dealership have to agree they don’t match. Haven’t heard the outcome from the tribunal. The lowers on the O/B SERG should be fine – Vivid Black but has anyone with a Silver or Yellow SERG received lowers that didn’t match 100% and if so, what did you do.

Thanks

No, but someone received 2 lowers for the same side.  My TP came cracked and spiderwebbed.  They sent the TP back to get repainted and that is what you should expect (Unless they do not consider the Platinum Dust a CVO color).

Thanks - I appreciate your response.

I'll report back the outcome of what happens with my lowers.

BryantH-thanks for the headsup.  Picked up my parts on Saturday and finally decided to install them tonite-guess what?  Same chit as you got.  For sure a couple of shades light.  What did your dealer say about this?  By any chance is HD paint supplied by PPG???

Only a thought could they be mixing up the Charcoal Slate and the Titamium Dust? It is hard to tell which one is lighter.

I ordered Titanium colored lowers, maybe HD supplied Pewter??  I think the charcoal slate is much darker than the Ti.  Just my .02c
Got a call from the dealer today and they have a CVO Glide with lowers, so off to color compare tomorrow-will keep you informed.
PPG could never match the paint (slate grey metallic) on my 2007 Freightliner, the dealer finally repainted the whole cab-YIKES.

I ended up with the wrong color blue lowers for 07 for my street glide. the dealer gave me credit of HD's paint cost and I repainted them myself. Dupont camera shot got it perfect and I ended up saving a hundred bucks. :2vrolijk_21:

Just received a quick update, but I'm not happy.

Dealer just informed me that Harley Brass - some dude that represents this region is coming down next week 1/29/09, to take a look first hand at the lowers. I was told that Harley views the lowers as any other part and that they will not change the formula / paint codes but just reproduce how it was painted. The dealer stated that there is no guarantee that a new set of lowers will match any better.

Yes, I raked him over the coals with my disappointment and again stated that they should take the side panels and match the lowers from that. Dealer stated that Harley is not interested in taking my side panels and again, if they provide another set of lowers, there is no guarantee they will match.

They still have my bike - I actually sent my first payment in yesterday. I'm really not happy at the moment but I have to get back to work.

Why do they have your bike???  Have them remove the lowers and give you the bike back.  One of the first guys to receive a SERG got lowers.  We may have to search and ask him if the colors matched.  I did not check how much the lowers cost but the TP for the SERG is $400 more than a normal TP just because of the paint.  Either match or give the money back.  He!! we can get close by going to any paint shop.  We do not want close.....We want the sh!t to match for that kind of money.  Now you got me pissed,  Where do you live, I'm flying out there right now to see that dealer. friggin, friggin, friggin.    >:(

I went to the dealer I purchased the lowers from today and we compared them to another SERG-all agreed that mine were "light".  All agreed that another set may be no better.  So, the dealer offered to have them repainted by a respected/trusted painter that does their work.  Probably the easiest and quickest way out of this situation.
Happy that there wasn't any yelling or whining (from either party lol)

This is a Quality Assurance issue with the 3rd party company that paints the SE stuff.  Time to get on the customer service line and complain!  Tell them to send a half dozen lowers and let you pick!!!!
