Hang in there with the local "HOG" group.  Get your 15% and run.....  HD is in for big trouble here soon.  They over built the factories and the demand is slowing to a crawl. The "big" excitement is in the "new" offerings and will continue to do so.  If you want a softail or dyna for a giggle, now is the time to buy.  I won't be puttin down $35k  and the factory knows it.  Save your pennies and go long in 6-8 months.  The deals are only getting better.  Remember, if you have cash right now,  you get the best deals in the last century.

Enjoy,

Beags

I would like to know how many people lost their jobs at the dealers. A lot of dealers have shut down their second store and cut back on days and hours open.

My local dealer in Athens, GA has had it's slowest 3 months in 30 years of business.  I'm really worried about those guys and the people I've gotten to know over the year.

I've been to three of the local dealerships here in Phoenix, and I can really tell a difference. Before, you had to chase a salesman around to get him to talk to you. Now they follow you around asking if you have any questions. Also I told one of the sales guys that I wasn't quite ready to put out as much money that was listed on the tag, and almost fainted when he said " oh, I'm sure there's a lot of room to work with that number" I've NEVER had a Harley salesman say that before. So I believe we're starting to see the effects, at least a little over here.

It's not just showroom sales either.  It's parts, motorcloths, service.....they're all at a standstill in the two dealerships I've been in lately.  spyder

My local dealer was pretty bussy yesterday.

My friend a sales man there, said Nov and Dec bike sales were the worst he has seen.  However yesterday he was telling me this January is the best January sales ever.

They are a good dealer.  They are giving me MSRP on my wifes 07 sportster, as per the program.  And they are taking over 1K off the price on the new Heritage she is getting.

My SERG is coming at a very good deal too.

Haven't stepped foot in a dealer around here in about a year now! Not much use for em. Get my parts thru Jenni now. Vern does ALL my work. By being treated very fairly by both of em, I stay loyal to both of em! Dealers are handy if ya need something on the road, but there's ways around that too! They made their beds, now they've gotta sleep in em. I know I'm not the only one who could give 2 chits about em. Like Mike said earlier, "They have laid the wood to us for years now it's their turn!!!!!!" Payback's a bitch, ain't it!!! STD!!! ;)

Howie, we all know why you are not supporting our local HD shops, and some of you know why I don't support mine.  But, I was in the local shop not too long ago and I had to fight the parts department to not get the Service Manager over to help me.  When I tried to just say that there was a personality conflict there and just get what I needed and move out, the Parts Manager looked something up in his computer and about fell out.  Even though we have not been supporting the shop, sometimes you just need something and five miles down the road is easier than 35 miles or more. Well at any rate, whatever that Parts Manager saw in the computer, he started kissing butt quick and wanted to know what they could do to get me back as a regular customer.  Of course, I know we went through at least three of those cards that gave you 15% off, I think it was something like if you spend $5,000 you get 15% off.  It is sad when the shops have run you off for one reason or another. I truly do not wish any ill will to any businessman.  Each one that may fail will loose jobs for quite a few people, and that I do not wish on anyone.

hoist,

you had run ins with the dealership or just certain parts of the dealership,my story is the service manager and I don't see eye to eye, gave me an attitude with the paint on my cuse4 at delivery, had to get the owners involved and there rep, took 4 mo to get painted parts in last piece was on friday, asked them about the jiffy stand brkt upgrade and he says" not my problem",so I said  I'll call cust service,I guess he thought I was b/s him untill they called him today with me on a 3 way call,he tells them I never said anything to him and I told cust service that I gave them the part#them he had nothing to say!.then he tells them he'll check the bike out when I bring the bike in for the paint,I then told my wife I have this fealing he is going to stick it in my a__.She said will see!!I have bought all my h-d scoots from the same place great place except the service mngr and he must get one big tv from h-d for doing no warrenty work or very little,I'm still tweeked ,sorry for the ran't

maybe the'll wake back up and do the cycles for the customer and not the dam stock holders ;)

Hoist, where do you get your parts ? I'd love to have some options other than the dealer.

David, Hoist and I and several others regularly order stuff from Jenni Sapyta at Tri County Harley.  Always good service and 20% discount.  Can contact her at jsapyta@aol.com .
