Went to the dealership yesterday. They just opened a brand spanking new facility on Friday having been closed since Christmas Eve. It's gorgeous and not your typical Harley dealership. Instead of glitz and glamour, it's got a lot of concrete and steel industrial moxy going on with 40K sq. ft. of retail space and a giant service department. Before riding season, they'll have a special events space finished with an outdoor amptheater for concerts and the like. Really cool destination, I think.
Oh, but the real news is, I got the ship date for my Silver/Titanium SERG. Harley says it will ship on Feb 10. WHile I was there, got my bike appraised and worked out the numbers on the deal. I was very pleased.
This is a dealership where I have never done business. It is owned by the same people that own the dealership near my house where I have bought 4 bikes for my wife and me in the last 3-1/2 years.
The coolest thing about the whole experience was meeting the GM, Bill. I had spoken to him on the phone several times starting with putting a deposit on the bike on Dec. 23rd. Even though he was sweating getting the new building finished and inspected -- including pouring lots of concrete in adverse conditions, he always took time to chat with me on the phone and answer my questions. When I went in yesterday, the moment I introduced myself, his face lit up as if meeting an old friend. He and I stood around and chewed the fat for over an hour during which time we occasionally talked about the SERG, my trade and the details of the deal. The rest of the discussion was story-swapping and making a new friend.
I'm really glad to have met Bill. He seems like regular people. He certainly made me feel very, very welcome yesterday.
And the good news is, he's gonna bring me a shiny, new SERG in February. I really like this guy!!!
