Exactly, the alarm will not go off until the bike is moved.
The alarm automatically sets when the FOB isn't close by so unless someone attempted to move the bike the alarm wouldn't go off.

The saddlebags on the German bikes have different screws inside. I cannot really technically explain them, but we've been there in another thread. That is most probably what is causing the confusion.

The international version of the saddlebag pins does not have the bail wire you can grab with your hand for easy removal.  Just the slot in the head of the pin.

Why is something was never able to find out.  The "where" seemed to originate in Germany though.  There was a memo tied to the part number for the int'l pin that said it was to meet a German requirement.  Apparently to meet one int'l standard the rest of the export bikes got it too.

Yep. Same is with the little front fender chrome thing. I was told it is because the fender covers more than the reach of the tire, and it is for the safety of the person you are about to hit ... as if that would really make a difference. We'll anything that helps.

No, the fix is to remove the springy wire mount and the screw on bolt lock and replace it with a bolt and washers so you have to have access inside the saddlebag in order to remove the saddlebag. Instructions for the bolt sizes and washers above. Once you take off the saddlebag and look at the mount, the fix will make more sense.

Guilty? You have any pics of your anti theif bolts on the bike.  Doc

That's funny.  That little piece of fender trim will help someone a great deal as the rest of the bike rolls over, on and through them.  That initial impact was much safer though :huepfenlol2: .

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. Once you take off your saddlebag and look at how it mounts to the bike the fix will make sense. All you are really doing is removing the springy wire mount and replacing it with a bolt, washers and nut.

Guilty, to make the mount even more secure what about using a carriage bolt from the outside and the nuts on the inside?  That way no outside exposed hardware would have anything on which a tool could turn.

Does this mean that to remove the saddlebags, you'd have to remove the nut/bolts totally or is the quick release system somehow retained but just secured?  :-\ spyder

Would be an A or B option Spyder.  The spring wire clip and pin retainer make for the quick release.  Also makes them so easy to steal.  Nuts and bolts instead of pin and spring wire means at least you need tools and a couple minutes to steal a saddlebag rather than no minutes and a quick twist or pull.
