Hello from frozen South Dakota
« on: January 20, 2009, 06:30:45 PM »

Hello all. I am Casey, a new CVO owner as of this fall. I got about 6-7 hundred miles on before the snow caught up to me, and the bike had to go into the garage for the winter upgrade fest...
Anybody know any issues I should check into ASAP on my bike? Oh yeah, it is a black and orange 2000 SERG. (Been my dream bike since it came out.) It reads about 28,000 miles and has a PCIII USB and A Vance & Hines Pro Pipe HS installed. Winter is the best time to check into any issues so...

Welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21: You may want to check the cam chain tensioners for wear.

Thanks for the tip. Will do, as I am going to put in an EZ pull clutch this winter. Current clutch will get old as I spend 2 hours trying to get thru Sturgis next year...

Welcome Clegg-

Do as Fired00d stated and check cam tensioners.  The easy pull clutch will be nice.  The rear swingarms aren't as heavy duty as the 02 or 03 and later so you may want to check the pivot point(s) for any wear.
Some of the guys with the older SERG's will be sure to chime in for sure and help you out with ideas on what to look for.

Welcome Casey from Southern New Jersey.  You may be frozen, but I am still jealous.  I was in Sturgis in 07 and coming again this fall.  Hope to relocate out West as soon as the Mrs retires.  Need to find a location that is retiree friendly and we can spend our days in the wind.
