Plug on right side of bike
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:51:38 PM »

I don't know if it's the same on previous CUSE sleds.  However, on my 09 there is an accessory or some such plug that sticks out on the right side of the bike just below the seat.  Is this connected to the accessory switch on the fairing?  Most importantly, I'm curious as to what some of you have used it for -- any thoughts, ideas, are greatly appreciated.

Bikin' Bob,

Connector is probably black with a small cap and plastic lanyard on it.  If that fits the description, it's for a battery charger.  Mine is connected as we speak just waiting for the weather to get above 40 F.

Ride safe,

Should be two plugs, one for an accessory (controled by fairing ACC switch) and one for the heated seat.  My dealer had connected in reverse, discovered when the seat would not heat without the accessory switch on, easy fix.

Barring pics it seems like the solution is to pull the seat. FWIW my dealer installs a battery tender in every new bike delivered.

In fact all Harley's have the protruding plug. It is typically used to connect a battery tender. Under your seat, you should have two additional plugs, one "always live" where the heated seat is connected, and another one (switched by acc switch) for anything else you'd like to power. In case you wish to use heating clothing: This is typically connected directly to the battery with the cables provided, which have their own lighted switch.

Ride safely,

I use the plug on my bikes for battery tender, heated vest and also I have it rigged up to work as a charger for my cell phone.(Fat Boy)
I wired a cigarette adapter plug to plug into it(fused) and with the right cigarette charger  I can charge my phone anywhere.

Don't know about your 09's but my 07 has 2 heasted seat plugs (non switched), 1 battery tender plug, 1 accessory switch plug (4 prong, 2 non switched brake/running light, 2 switched + -) and 1 B+ (always hot, non switched) plug

Hey Guys,  I got a 09SEUC and I have not seen anything like this.  Have even removed the seat and there is nothing there that isn't already plugged in to something.

It may be tucked under some wires near the battery and probably has a cap on it.

Thanks all for the responses.  Mine sticks out pretty far from the seat.  It is the plug with the endcap, and this must be the battery tender.

The cord you are seeing is a unswitched 12 volt power source cord, right off the battery.
The battery tender will plug right into it once you remove the cap.
