Cleaning My SE Leather Jacket
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:33:34 PM »

On the inside of my 98226-06vm Raceway Leather Jacket is a toll free # 800-236-6996 for cleaning. The company is Leather-Rich, Inc. Has anyone ever used them? Cost?

Now the real question is what do you use to clean your jackets? I just want something to clean and preserve the leather. I am thinking about using saddle soap to clean it and maybe Glare after. The white lettering and stitching is where I'm most concerned. The orange on the collar is dirtiest but I think a product like "shout" would work best. Any thoughts?

I always use Armor All leather wipes from the automotive store.  They work well for me.

I like saddlesoap to get the dirt out and let it dry naturally (no heat) and then replenish the oils to make it more waterproof.  Lexol or whatever your preference to re-oil.  On lighter colored leathers you have to be careful what you use to re-oil so as not to darken the leather to much.  ;) spyder

I recommend Bick 1 Leather Cleaner.  www.bickmore.com/bickmore/Leather%20Care/Bick1.html   I've used their products since the 70's on saddles, leather coats, boots, shoes. It is a soft cleaner/conditioner. Normally find it at western boot shops.    :)

I got the same jacket. Never gets cold enough here to wear it though. I like the coat. I probably would never clean mine if I wore it enough, but if you have to I would say wipe it down with wet cloth then apply the HD leather conditioner that they offer for the leather saddle bags etc. Actually, I never clean my riding coats or leather shirts. I have a leather shirt that stays in my tourpac that I have never cleaned or oiled and I love it.. That's really all I need out here in San Dago, Calif. Great jacket though!!
