Group buy ridestr8 /yea or nea?
« on: September 21, 2005, 11:57:52 PM »

I am new to the site - it seems that there are a lot of great people that are getting together sharing some great ideas on this site.  I am glad to be a part of it.  [smiley=laugh.gif]
I have been following the group buy posts on the ridestr8 stabilization product and was looking to get some feedback from those of you who bought it.  Do you like it?  Was it all that you expected? How is the workmanship?  I am looking to get either the ridestr8 or the true-track and have talked with both both companies and each one thinks their product is better than the other one.  I am confused [smiley=nixweiss.gif] and feedback would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Roadking07, welcome to the site!  Truth be told, I think either device accomplishes the same thing, I just preferred the appearance of the Ride-Str8 on the bike (looks more OEM to me) and the fact that it does not sacrifice any ground clearance whereas the True Track does.

As far as the workmanship on the Ride-Str8, I think the powder-coating job is first rate and a perfect match for the gloss black frame of my SEEG.  There are some photos in this thread: http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=eg_gen;action=display;num=1123085111;start=163#163

As for any difference in the way the bike behaves, I can't comment on that as I have not completed the installation myself.  I'm sure a few others that have will be along to let you know their experiences.

RoadKing, there were lots of pros and cons that were considered.  To quickly summarize here were a few:

True Track was cheaper at full price.
Ride Str8 was cheaper after they offered their respective discounts.
Ride Str8 mount did not fully encircle transmission pan so it was assumed tranny cooling would be more efficient.
Ride Str8 installation would not interfere with a center stand mounting from Rivco that several have used and seems to popular.  True Track would not coexist with the center stand.
Both seemed like they'd do the job that was asked of them.  The engineering of the Ride Str8 device seemed a bit more flexible and intrusive.  Both would be pretty easy to install.   See the thread that 103 directed you too and you'll find tons more information.

103tHunDer - thanks for the info to the past post - i have read all 17 pages and it has cleared up a lot of questions about both products [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]- I think first I am going to take my bike to my local dealer and have them check the alignment because my bike pulls to the left pretty bad and i'm sure this has some relation to the high speed wobbles that I have experienced.
