J&M Headset
« on: September 22, 2005, 01:49:42 PM »

I had a problem with feedback using a J&M headset with 06 radio.  I could tuck the cord under chin strap(skin contact) to make it go away.I sent headset to J&M who was able to re-create the problem in their lab. They have a fix which requires a new  designed cable. They are giving me a new cable. Anyone thinking about J&M upgrade make sure you get the right cable. I can share the new part number when I get my headset back.

BTW once I convinced the customer service rep with "17yrs experience never seen this before" that the problem was real ..I have nothing but good things to say so far about J&M experience.

I'll have to get you the part numbers when I get everything back unless I can find the sales slip. The headset worked great with the phone but had feedback with cb. I have been using the stock harley set and it is inferior with performace of mic and speakers. I use a Nolan flip helmet. Sometimes it's up and sometimes it's down. People that I am talking to can hardly tell I am on the bke. With the the helmet closed they can not tell I am riding on the bike. No big deal except it works out nice when I am riding and they think I am working. I'll be glad to send you info when I get it. BTW you can save a little $$

Brings new meaning to mobile office. We have a remote office and when I have to go there I put in for the mileage. So on the good weather days I get toride and work at the sametime. [smiley=laugh.gif]

I kinda work flex-time thru the day, so I take off on the bike sometimes, but if I get a call I can always pull over and connect to work with my laptop and cell phone on the side of the road, when I'm done I get rolling again.

Got the headset back from J&M today. Have not stuffed it back in the helmet but here are the part numbers I wound up with:HS-CPS477-AOF (headset),HC-ZH (lowercord).

It is the AeroMikeIII dual mode with Dynaport speakers. This headset has way more performance than HD stock set. I'll give it a test Sat morning and we'll see if the fix they came up with works.

I installed and tested the J&M fix. Better still not right. Having e-mail conversation with their president. Will update when things change.
