Big Azz Generator

Well that ought to light a couple of light bulbs and maybe even run your coffee pot too.

Thanks Candy. It'll get going sooner or later. Maybe tomorrow, or maybe Sunday.

Well Ken, mines still sitting here in the crate.  I thought winter was over and sure hope I didn't miss my guess.  Been trying to call some relatives over in Paducah, but can't get thru.  Phone lines must be down up there also.  Good luck, bud.

Generator is sitting on temporay concrete blocks. The switch gear is installed and we just lack pulling the wires from the generator to the switchgear. I've got all the fittings necessary to plumb the gas line from the tank to the engine. That will happen tomorrow morning before noon. We'll test fire this baby and see what happens. Ended up getting a 27 KW generator instead of the 25 KW. This one has a four cylinder GM water cooled 3.0 L engine. I'm thinking that's like 120 amps.

Heresay is it might be 2 months getting everyone powered back up here. We're on a rural electric co-op. The number of miles of line per customer is greater here than most anywhere else. That will make make the process slow. The main transmission line on both ends of the town are down for miles. Ice has melted off the trees and if you are on a high enough elevation to look over the top of the wooded areas, it's unbelievable. Looks like EVERY single tree has been topped.

Monday I plan to install a generator at the office to get back to work. I don't know if we'll have power off the grid next week or next month.

I've been trying to check on elderly and other people who can't help themselves. In small communities like here, it's unbelievable how people pool together and take care of their own. I've had countless offers from site members offering help and I appreciate it. We're doing fine here.

This whole ordeal reminds me of the 110 engines. If it breaks, just fix it.  :nixweiss:

Jimminey!  Transmission lines are way bigger than distribution lines...all I can do for you from down here is eat some extra fish dip and drink extra beer...Hand tough, stay hydrated...

I'm Generating power! It's 55 degrees here today. I should run the AC!

I'd be riding if I hadn't been messing with all this. Now taking this portable generator to my son's to get him powered up.
