Almost forgotten in my Moms shed
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:03:58 AM »

A friends Dad gave this to me in the early 70's and I almost forgot it was there. My Mom (82) wanted me to clean the shed when it gets warmer so I went to take a look and came upon an old friend.  We used to push it up the hill and ride it down.
I called my friend and she thinks her Dad made an air compressor out of the motor and thinks it is still in her basement!!!!

I have never been able to identify it and have had a few offers (ahhh....maybe give ya $50 for it) but never got rid of it.  Can anyone Identify it???  Or tell me where to find a VIN#?

It has 2 rubberbands that worked like a springers springs. You can see them somewhat in the close-ups of the headlight/front end pics. The forks are stamped metal I think.

Here is a link to some huge pics of it.      http://rides.webshots.com/album/569839091nCjikW

The Harley shop owner in St Mary's Ohio has one of the largest privately owned Sprint collections. He is a super nice man that went out of his way to close his shop and give me a private tour of his collection.

Get in touch with him and I am sure that he would help you in every way possible :2vrolijk_21:

Harley Hummer, probably about 1948 to 50. I think in '50 they went to another type of front fork. 125cc, 2-stroke, modeled after the DKW
Hope this helps!

If memory serves me right..it was more a "girder' type, orginally had big "rubber bands" that was your "suspension".....we had a few of those in the club years ago, but then my memory is not like it used to be!! Hummers went from 125 to 165cc etc. over those years from about 48 on.
I may be mistaken, but, I'm sure someone can look it up. I'd have to go through my old file cabinets, but, hell, I can't even remember where THEY are! LOL
