New Mapsource Update!
« on: January 31, 2009, 04:53:49 AM »

HeHe!!! I though this was Gary's job! Tried updating from the program and this was available. I downloaded it from Mapsource directly, not from Garmin's site.

Hoist! 8)

The MapSource version 6.15.3.0 update is available for download.  Its file size is 58.2 MB and is estimated to take 3 hour(s), 41 minute(s) to download on a 56k modem.

            The following changes were made:

Fixed an issue where blank map tiles are
left on the screen.  Fixed an issue with redrawing the map
after a detail level change.  Enhanced the drawing of roads
to better distinguish primary from secondary roads.  Added
the ability to adjust symbol size of icons.  Fixed the
display of spot soundings in Marine maps.  Fixed an issue
with areas getting highlighted inadvertently.  Fixed 'Move
Waypoint', 'Insert Route Section', and 'Extend Route'
capabilities from right-click context menus.  Fixed an issue
with water regions getting clipped.  Limited 'Nearest
Features' to only displayed maps.  Fixed overlapping
copyright information for certain maps.  Fixed the display
of certain Marine icons in the 'Find Nearest Places' dialog.
Fixed an issue with improper amenities getting displayed for
'Exit Properties'  Modified the color used for bathymetric
lines.  Enhanced the look of dashed and dotted lines.
Enhanced sizes of certain labels.  Enhanced the look of road
shield icons.  Fixed an issue when using certain find
operations.  Fixed an issue where changing the font would
result in no labels being displayed.  Fixed an issue with
using the Roads & Rec 2.1 Hawaii and Alaska product.

There are issues (bugs) w/this update that have been found that I have read about on the Zumo Forum. From what I've read and what has been reported if you still have/are  using 6.13.7 I would advise you to stick with it.

Bugs in MapSource 6.15.3 (from - GarminZumo Wikispace)

1. Not clearing file extension from file name when file type is changed.
When a Mapsource GDB file is open and the user attempts Save As and changes file type from GDB to GPX, typically to save a file of Waypoints to load as Custom POIs, MapSource does not remove the GDB file extension from the name if the GDB was last saved as the standard version 3 GDB. While the user can manually blank out the ".GDB" after the filename, if file extensions for known file types are not displayed, the user cannot erase the ".GDB" and cannot save as a ".GPX" file.

2. MapSource crashes when a Waypoint or Garmin POI is used more than once in a route.
Sometimes a user wants to include a Waypoint or POI more than one time in a route. For example, after a ride ending at a motel and checking in, the user wants to visit a museum and return to the motel. If that extra stop at the same motel is included on a route, MapSource 6.15.3 will crash. Earlier versions did not have trouble with this.

3. Custom 0-63 missing from symbol requestor and not displayed on map.
Mapsource allows a user to define 64 custom symbols to use for Waypoints in MapSource. In previous versions this worked. In MapSource 6.15.3, while it continues to save a GDB or GPX with Waypoint symbol types of "Custom 0",...,"Custom 63", Waypoints with these Custom symbols all display with symbol "Waypoint". The symbol dropdown selection list in Waypoint properties does not display these symbols after the "Numbers" section as is done in previous versions.

4. Scroll bar slider Left or Up Overzooms off map.
Grabbing the MapSource window horizontal slider and scrolling left overzooms off map. Scrolling back to the right corrects the map orientation. Grabbing the vertical slider and scrolling up overzooms off map, but reorientation back on the map can only be done by zooming out to the maximum and recentering the map. Workaround: Left clicking the region to the left or above the scrolling bar control will scroll a fixed amount properly.

It was also noted in the update prior that version was running extremely slow on some machines and some are still having that problem w/this version.
