Pipes, SE, ?
« on: September 24, 2005, 07:14:45 PM »

I've been talking about true duals, V&H ovals, but this weekend, I put the stock slipons back on and I love the clean look of those two big bazookas stickin out back there. They just dont have the right sound, TOO QUIET! Is it possible to get in there to mess with the baffles? Does, ( [smiley=cool2.gif]SE HD) Make a tuneable slip on? I like the rolled edges and the big round look. I wanted to put on the billet end tips with the two indentations in them. Talk to me about pipes, I dont liket he Rhinehart tips, sorry, I just dont. I like the pipes and the sound, just not those tips, if I could get the Rhinehart true dual setup with the same look as the SE slip ons plain with the rolled edges, I'd be sold.

CVOwner, I tried everything to use those stock mufflers/pipes.  I could never get em to sound right.  Kept getting louder but more of a pop gun sound.  Not the mellow, throaty sound that we all love.  Finally gave up on em, but, like you, I really hated to not be able to use em due to their good looks.  You can get chrome tips for the Rienharts if you don't like the black ones.  Also, the Freedom pipes come w/ the chrome rolled tips I think.  Good luck.     spyder

I agree, I've never heard of anyone modifying the stock pipes and being happy.  I'm in the same boat as you as I love the looks of the 06 SEU 4" pipes.  You'd think with thousands of stock pipes sitting around collecting dust that someone could start a business installing new baffles.  Hmmm, I'm eligible for retirement, maybe I just found me a part time job.  LOL  Or maybe I could build chrome fences.   [smiley=bigok.gif]

Have you checked out Hard krome pipes?  They have a nice look but a little loud.

Or, what about the Caliber true duals from Samson?  The thing I like about them is no bend in the pipe on the right side like the Rinehart's and V&H duals.  They're straight from the front of the bike to the rear, just like the stock head pipes.  Plus, they have full-coverage heat shields and the chrome tips like you are looking for.

They're great looking and sounding pipes.  The mufflers are 3" instead of 4" like the Rienharts and Screaming Eagles, so you get a bit different look under the saddlebags in addition to the 'straight' right side pipe.  That 'bend' in the Rienharts continues to bother me, but I thought I was the only one that anal.  Har!   [smiley=laugh.gif] spyder

if your leaning toward rineharts then get the freedom package from freedom cycles in reno nv. these are modified rineharts with pre mapped pc111 and air filter. my stock seeg was dynoed with these at 102 hp and 105 tq. they have great customer service!
