Heated hand grips
« on: February 03, 2009, 07:56:20 PM »

I know there have been several posts about the heated hand grips on the stock CVO Ultra.  I could not find what I was looking for but have read that they are unreliable at best.  How hot should mine be getting on the highest setting?  6 I believe is the highest.  The seat got so darn hot I had to turn it off, but did not notice much warmth at all with the grips.  Thoughts?  Thanks.

Robonel,

Perhaps you're missing something here?  There has been a plethora of problems with the OEM heated grips.  Usually the thermostat/rheostat fails.  If your warranty is still in effect, take this puppy immediately to the Harley doctor post haste and have them order a replacement set for you.  There are some other solutions for after market heated grips you may want to consider after your warranty runs out.  Lastly, invest in a good set of heated gloves and be done with it.   Welcome to the on again off again heated grip club.

Yeah, I am going to have the dealer look at them, I was just not sure how warm they got.  The damn seat got so hot it just about ran me off of it, but the grips not so much at all.  Thanks.

i have heated gloves with a thermostat - good down to the 20's

i rarely ride when its in the 20's due to a company supplied car with gas........

but if there is no crosswind 28 is actually comfortable with the heated jacket liner, heated gloves and set of arctic work coveralls.

the only problem is that my feet get cold after about 30 miles and its 40 miles to work.

so it goes

Not true when they work they really work, I was on my third set when I traded in my 07, they were always backordered so I imagine supply never caught up with demand, they are really junk.

The biggest problem I have with the heated grips is that they slide off the bar. and I know of 2 other 07 SEUC's that had the same experience.

i have just the opposite problem. My grips get very hot set on 4 almost to the point its uncomfortable, but my seat does not seem to get very warm at all. I was told it takes a good 15 to 20 mins for the seat to heat up but alas it is fair at best. Its a good thing I live in Calif. where I don't need it much...
