Crank Position Sensor
« on: February 05, 2009, 10:35:55 PM »

Had one of these go bad on the Sporty, so figured I'd order one for each of the big bikes.  Ordering one for the SEUC was no problem.  The FLHR was a different story.  According to the parts manual, it is a hermetic part of a harness consisting of the CPK and dual connectors for oil pressure sensing (one for the idiot light, one for the gauge), but there is not overarching part number for the hermetic assembly.  The assembly is covered with shrink tubing and appears to be long enough to reach back to the swingarm area (FLHR isn't here, or I'd confirm).  The 02 parts manual lists individual components, so I suppose I could order them and build my own spare.  The parts manual doesn't list inclusive parts like the 06 parts manual does.  For instance, the 06 book lists the CPK o-ring as included with the CPK, whereas the 02 book does not.
Has anyone ever ordered a CPK for an 02 Touring bike?  Do I have to order each part separately, or does it come as a complete unit?

while on this subject, does anyone know the distance from the sensor to the crank? The reason i ask this, i had a 2007 CVO and the motor toasted when the  crank shifted and whacked the sensor. The two must be extremely close to have this happen.

HML - I'm showing a part number 320707-01B  for the sensor and it list these part numbers as part of the assembly; 11289A, 72199-94, & 74194-98. My part number book does not specify what the parts in blue font relate too. These part numbers are out of a 2007 book and not sure if these parts would be same as 2002 models. I'm still researching this as i have several older parts books laying around, i just need to locate where i stashed them, I'll PM you if i find something else on this.  :confused5:

11289A is the o-ring for the Crank Position Sensor.  72199-94 is a connector.  74194-98 are pins (2 ea.).  These are all listed under P/N 32707-01B, Crank position sensor, and come as one complete assembly for my 06 bike, and from your description, 07 as well.
Not the same as an 02 bike.  O-ring is 11289.  CPK is 32798-00.  Can't tell which connector on the other end is for the OPS or the CPK, but I can figure it out once the bike comes home.  Was just wondering if anyone knew offhand.   Thanks.

I checked Henry.  Don't have an 02 parts manual.  You want a scan of the 00 parts manual for comparison to see if it's the same as what you're searching for?

That would be most generous of you, Sir.  P/N page as well illustration would be terrific.

Have no clue if 00 will help for 02.  At worst will have eliminated another option though.

Close, but close enough.  The only thing missing from your's that is included with mine is the single pin connector for the oil pressure idiot light (for machine like my FLHR w/o OP Gauge.

Like mine, these images give the impression that each part must be ordered to make a crank position sensor, or the entire harness can be ordered.  That's be wad of wiring to tote around just for a spare.

Thanks for the pix.
