Here's the first pic...

Note the tag on the box says, "Ricks Rides, LLC"... The owner of the dealership is also named Rick. His company that owns the dealerships is Ricks Rides.

I thought it was pretty cool that my bike came with this label on it... hee-hee!

enjoy. :orange:

Oh yeah...check it over VERY carefully...look for dents/flat spots in the tank, haze where they buffed out sags, orange peel etc...

It looks like you got the new/improved seat as well :2vrolijk_21:  You may want them to roll those handlebars back as far as they'll go to give you better reach.  Mine were where yours are and my back was killing me when I got it home after 90 miles.

That's nice Rick.  Congrats man.  It's fun to be there at the unveiling.
Unfortunately there is no unveiling in Europe. The bikes arrive on the truck without any box, wrapper and such. It's some kind of environmental thing. The dealers love it. Just 2 Eurocents.

Ride safely,

I-65 south of Nashville was not a safe place yesterday afternoon. seems there was some madman racing in and out of traffic. Had his head out the window drooling and slobbering, and yelling something about "My baby, My baby, mt baby is here". Authorities, upon investigation, found nothing more than a trail of parts receipts and a pair of pissed in britches. When EMS crews arrived at Columbia H-D, they found Rick in an unnatural position with turned out to be his SERG. so all is well.
So treasure it well my Jeddi Knight. with this weapon you can conquer to world. well, only what I haven't yet conquered.
Congrats Rick

Now that you've seen it born... maybe you can help me out. What else is involved in the prep after they uncrate it? I only ask because when I get my bike delivered, I'm just having it picked up again to have the gov't ship it to my new assignment is Hawaii... so would I be better off just leaving it crated... instead of letting whatever low-bid contractor the gov't hired crate it?

My only concern with just leaving it factory crated would be not being able to inspect it upon initial delivery and getting any issues resolved on the spot. If I unpack it in Hawaii and htere is something wrong, then I have to take it to the dealer there and deal with the extra drama...

Probably better off taking delivery... then I'll at least get a chance to get a few miles on it before I have to part with it for another month or two.  :(

Hahaha!... Hey, there's still room for ONE of them!

Only need room for one. The wife rides her own 2007 FLTRSTC Heritage Classic. The girl is my BSR.

Soon... soon... soon...

...but it's never soon enough until it gets here, right?

It's easy to see you're a proud papa!  Your cheek muscles are going to hurt for a couple days ;D ;D ;D  When do you ride it home?

I think my face is frozen in a "perma-smile" at the moment. I feel like the Joker, LOL! I'm going down to pick her up this afternoon. Can't get there till after work which will be near dusk. So, I'm gonna trailer her back.

Don't want my first ride to be on the freeway in the dark just in case there are any issues. When I test drove a Yellow SERG just after Christmas, I realized that the SERG is much lower than my '07 FLTR.  It caught me off guard when I came to a stop because my feet hit the ground much sooner than expected. So, better safe than sorry, I figure.

Oh yeah...check it over VERY carefully...look for dents/flat spots in the tank, haze where they buffed out sags, orange peel etc...

Will do that today when I go to pick her up. Didn't have time yesterday. Besides, I was too giddy!

It looks like you got the new/improved seat as well :2vrolijk_21:

Looks like it. That was one of the first things I looked for when the wrappers started coming off. The seat overlaps the console by almost 1/2" !!!

You may want them to roll those handlebars back as far as they'll go to give you better reach.  Mine were where yours are and my back was killing me when I got it home after 90 miles.

Yeah, prolly so. I'm gonna ride it for a few miles with the stock bars and see how it goes. I've put Buffalo Bars Mini-Apes on my last two. The '05 had 8-inchers and the '07 had 10-inchers and the are 39" wide, which I love. The stock bars may just be too far forward and too narrow, but we'll see.

Unfortunately there is no unveiling in Europe. The bikes arrive on the truck without any box, wrapper and such. It's some kind of environmental thing.

Well, I'm all for the environmental thing... but I'm not up for shipping a $30K+ bike without it being protected. Hmmm... that sucks... and it doesn't... all at the same time...

I-65 south of Nashville was not a safe place yesterday afternoon....
Congrats Rick

LarryB, you crack me up. Thanks for listening to my inane babble on the phone yesterday when I was making I-65 an unsafe place, LOL!

BTW, folks, it wasn't my excitement, but rather the high winds of a front that was moving into the area that had me weaving all over the highway!!!

Now that you've seen it born... maybe you can help me out. What else is involved in the prep after they uncrate it?

After uncrating is the pre-delivery inspection. I don't know exactly what is involved, but I know they check the bike over for any obvious issues, make sure the fluids are filled, etc., and then they take the bike for a test ride to make sure it's running ok. Oh, my dealership is going to detail the bike, too, before I pick it up.

I only ask because when I get my bike delivered, I'm just having it picked up again to have the gov't ship it to my new assignment is Hawaii... so would I be better off just leaving it crated... instead of letting whatever low-bid contractor the gov't hired crate it?

Wherever you pick the bike up, it's going to have to be on a ship to get to Hawaii... probably. The Harley crating is pretty damned impressive. I'd be inclined to leave it crated and have it shipped to Hawaii... depending on how much time you have between the bike's arrival and your departure, of course.

On the other hand, the dealers ship most of the crating material back to Harley to be used again. I don't know if there is a "deposit" on the crates, but, if so, the dealer may not be willing to ship the bike to Hawaii in the original crate.

One other option... have Harley ship your bike to Hawaii. It's a service they offer through H.O.G. If you can't get the military to pay for it, I hear it's pretty reasonably priced. I'll bet Harley will do a better job with your SE than the gov't contractor. Might be worth the price to have the peace of mind. You'll have to make that decision, of course.

Thanks all!

As for when I'm picking her up... originally, it was going to be Friday afternoon, but I'm headed down after work today to pick her up. I may take the day off on Friday to just go ride...

Thanks for the info. When I finalize the delivery details I will ask the dealer about the possibility of keeping the crate. Seems to me there might be something in the fine print for shipping my stuff that allows for me to secure it myself and have them pay at least some of it... so I will look into the H.O.G. option.

Now get off here and go ride!  :bananarock:

ROFLMAO... nice

Take a look at the mirrors.. they are flipped the wrong way, as well as a few other things.. Main fuse is pulled, left side cover off, removal of the protective wrapper, there are little sticky-dots on the bike for the tech to remove as they complete portions of the PDI.

Broken down the crate doesnt take up a lot of space, the box folds flat, pallet stands on end....and the upright hoops are easy as well.

Your dealer should be able to arrange courtesy delivery of your bike to a dealer here, who will uncrate and inspect for any shipping damages.

Nice looking scoot. When mine came in the dealer called and said is was sitting on the showroom floor waiting for me. Not even a call to come and uncrate it :(
