Highway Peg Mounts, Pegs
« on: September 28, 2005, 07:55:46 PM »

I'm looking at some highway pegs and dont like the stealth pegs with the black rubber on the bottom, (I dont know why they didnt chrome them?) Does anyone maybe have some pictures? Recommendations for mounts too. HD 360? Kuryakn? Airfoil? Help me guys and gals. Since I order everything online its hard to decide. I go to Harley get the numbers and look at them, the counter guys give me dirty looks, I give them dirty looks back and then I leave. [smiley=cool3.gif]

JC is taller than I am.  Mounting the bracket about midheight on the crash bar the short Kuryakyn bracket was too far away for me (at least where I liked mounting the stuff and at the angle I felt it most comfortable).

The red bike picked the long Kuryakyn brackets (Kuryakyn # 4526) with the Kuryakyn "Switchblade" pegs (part # 4445).

The pegs are by no means an identical match to our original pedals and boards.  When I got these the mates weren't even out yet.  But they look ok.  And I've found them to be really comfortable and functional.

The pic is with the stirrup folded down.  That's how it gets used 90% of the time.  The stirrup can be raised or lowered easily with your foot while going down the road.

The only downside to these is that I have to remember to raise the stirrups if I'm going to be playing in the twisties.  The point at which I have the peg height adjusted for comfort also has the bottom of the stirrup being the first thing to touch when the bike leans over.  Just barely, but it does.

Their adjustability is good too.  The mount arm on the crash bar has a full 360 to bring it up or down and closer to or farther away from you.  The peg itself has infinite adjustment between its stops via an allen headed set screw that is used to adjust the angle at which the peg "faces" your foot.

Anyone run into problems with  the legfairings not being the same distance on both sides?  On my right side i could adjust the arm/peg to where i wanted it. On the left side that same adjustment i was jammed up against the fairing, which would scratch the heck of of it.
I haven't crawed under there yet to look, but can the legfairing be moved inward a bit or is it not adjustable?

Those lower fairing are not suppose to be 'adjustable', but when you take 'um on and off you realize that there are small variations in the mounting position due to the angles of the mounting brackets.  I'm sure you can remove the one and re-position it so you won't scratch it with the peg bracket.  Worth a try.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   spyder
