I was quoted 7k to transport my bike round trip to France from the HOG suggested broker. Has anyone out there used a cheaper yet safe alternative.

Holy Chit
The wife and I were going to ship our bikes over for our 25th Anniversary---never dreamed it would be that much.  :bigcry:
Should be able to buy a couple bikes for cheaper than that.  :shocked2:

know and two bikes doesn’t equal a multiple bike discount. For two bikes it was 13.9k. I am still looking for a better solution though.

Book a cruise to someplace in Europe and use the bike as luggage! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

You do not mention if this air or sea. There is a considerable price difference. Additionally, you can do some, if not all, of the paperwork yourself and deliver the bike to the air- or seaport. Same on arrival and on the way back. All these tasks do cost considerable fees. How long are you planning to stay? It is most often more reasonable to rent through H.O.G. Fly & Ride or other rental agencies. You are not riding your own, but you can't damage it that way, too.

Ride safely,

Greetings from Claridon Motorcycle Logistics, it is nice to hear from you.

The cost to ship your bike from our centre in Los Angeles for preparation, crating and overseas shipment to Marseille would be USD6900.00 return per bike. For two bikes the cost would be USD13800.00 together return.

Please be advised that for permanent shipments into Europe there will be customs duty and vat applicable.
Plus any modifications that will be applicable.

This cost covers all shipping services including, the crating and un crating of your motorcycle and customs clearance in the country of origin, and all customs formalities in the country of destination.

Cost does not include fees for any carnets (a customs document for a vehicle that allows it to be taken across national borders without payment of duty) required by the country of destination, customs examinations (should they decide to examine your motorcycle), duties and taxes, bond fees, any other local charges, i.e. implemented in the country of destination, or any storage which may incur due to a delay in customs caused by examination or delays

For return journeys a charge for the storage of your  crate will be made, for the duration of your vacation -  this costs depends on your destination, and the length of your stay  and the final storage charges will be payable before the collection of your motorcycle.

For bikes being shipped to the USA all fuel has to be drained and the batteries disconnected prior to shipment.

Please note rates may change without prior notice and are valid for a two month period only, due to the ever increasing fuel surcharge.

Transit insurance is offered at a percentage of the value of your motorcycle, plus the freight cost to ship your bike to it’s final destination, together with the local costs in the country of arrival. Plus an overall 10% to cover shipping costs.

Transit insurance covers you for the insured value of your bike should anything unexpected occur, and if your bike is deemed severely damaged, upon arrival, lost, or stolen.

Please be advised that there is an excess of USD500.00 or the equivalent in the appropriate currency for any claims made. Payable by the insured. – COPY POLICY

AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST – for an insurance rate please contact this office for more information.

Transit time via sea would be approximately 30 days port to port by sea , or 7/10 days via air.

A week or more must be allowed for some ports for customs clearance, and onward delivery if applicable. Please note there is a 10 day window from when your bike is collected from when it will arrive at the crating centre. You must allow additional days for deliveries within Europe, and Asia.
Services from the USA are limited and cargo has to be transhipped either in Rotterdam or Antwerp.
Cargo destined for Countries such as Brunei will have to be transhipped via Singapore, as there are no direct sailings from the US at present.

Should we be unable to obtain a direct sailing to the country of your destination, the bike will
be transhipped via an additional port , this could result in additional charges but you will be notified of this in advance.

Should you require any assistance in obtaining temporary insurance to ride your motorcycle outside your country of residence, please let us know, and we will advise you accordingly.

If there is anything else that you have questions about or would like further clarification for please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

As motorcyclists and enthusiasts ourselves, we are here to help you, and make the dream of riding your own Harley overseas – become a reality.

Bla bla bla. It's good to know it costs only 20 bucks to ship a new refrigerator from China into the U.S.

Can't imagine these people get a lot of business at these outrageous prices. When combined with a tour we usually pay around 1,500 Euro roundtrip for a bike shipped from Germany into the U.S. and back, all docs and handling included. It is probably 20% more expensive for an individual transport. And I find this expense already. Cars can be brought one way (by ship) for around 800 dollars.

You should be able to find a different offer.

Ride safely,

HOG fly and Ride.  You won't look as good but Damm that's a lot of cabbage.  Hog fly and ride the bike is waiting for you, you can put all the miles you want and if it breaks down is not yours.  Plus there is no worries about damage during shipment, and the time loss from riding it at home.  You got to ship it early and then wait to get it back after you get home.  Let's Roll

Yeah. H.O.G. Fly & Ride is available in Frankfurt/Germany, and they usually have all Ultra's. That may be your best option.
