2009 SERG Handlebars
« on: February 13, 2009, 08:11:52 PM »

Has anyone installed Wild 1 575 bars or Wild 1 518 bars on a 2009 SERG ?  If so how did it change your riding position and did all of the stock cables work ?   Thanks alot.  BLW

What cables?

Clutch is hydraulic and the Throttle is TBW...

I have Wild1 WO517's on my SERG. I had my dealer perform the install and they had to reroute the clutch cable a couple of times until the handlebars turned the full radius. The stock fly-by-wire throttle line did not have to be changed either. Here's a link that might help: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=30740.0
You can also search "wild1 517" in the 2000 FLTRSEI/2001 FLTRSEI2/2009 FLTRSE3 Screamin' Eagle® Road Glide discussion area.

I just ordered a set of the 518 Road King-II bars today, returning the 8.5" Wild 1 Chubby Apes.  I needed more pullback.  I will let you know how they fit! :nixweiss:

I've looked at the WO517 Road Glide bars from Wild 1 and I must say that I am tempted to try them. This is especially true when considering that none of the wiring or cabling has to be replaced.

On the other hand, I have always used wider bars on my previous Road Glides. The WO517 bars are only 31" wide. The Buffalo Bar 8" or 10" mini-apes that I have used in the past are about 39" wide which gives me a much more comfortable stance.

The problem with the wider bars is that the wiring for both control sets, the TBW and both hydraulic lines -- clutch and brake -- will have to be lengthened. That gets expensive in a hurry. On my two previous bikes, I spent about $1000 for the bars, wires, cables and labor.

Khrome Werks has a # 300514 bar called a Wide Sweeper +2".  Looks to have 2 more inches of pullback than what we have with the stock '09 bar.  Anybody tried them?  I tried the new seat angle-Corbin solo but still need bars.

RickC ..... I wasn't very clear, and understand WTF....I'm a short chit 5' 2'' , I've changed out handle bars on the last three bike's. Rather than spend money on bars every year, I'll have a custom seat built to move me closer and lower. Now I can keep the seat and transfer it a new bike...Good idea right

Good idea until (a) you buy a different kind of bike or (b) they change the seat mounting configuration or (c) the seat color doesn't work with the new bike.

But, yes, a good idea. I bought a Mustang Vintage Wide Solo with Wide Passenger Pillion for my '05 Road Glide. I moved it to my '07 when I bought it, but it won't fit the '09 SERG, dammit!

Makes more sense than new bars on every bike, but... come to think of it... I DID BOTH!!!

What seat and bars are you doing on the SERG?

I am looking hard at the Danny Gray big seat solo with rider back rest.  After that I will decide if I need bars.

I have thought about the corbin solo....just not sure yet.

Stock for now. Since it's a CVO seat, it seems a little better than the stock FLTR seat. I'm waiting till I get a few miles on for me and my BSR to decide what, if anything, we want to do.

I have thought about the corbin solo....just not sure yet.

LarryB has one of those. It's a good-looking seat, but it doesn't work for me for some reason. I'm a Mustang customer, dyed-in-the-wool. Haven't decided what I like out of their seats, yet.

I do like the stock seat, best stock one I have been on.  However I like Solo seats on my bikes.  I also like having the rider back rest.

I do like the seat Larry B has.  That is why I am considering Corbin.  My fatboy has a mustang solo that I love.  However I just do not like the looks of the mustang solo on the SERG.  The more I look into the Danny Gray the more I like it.  I like the fact they will do gel inserts.
