The plug that you are dealing with does not have the correct wiring.  I installed the light kit for my TP Wing luggage rack.  The correct plug according to the wiring schematics is in the left side cover in the trailing edge.  It is tie-tied down.  I ended up having to splice in the wiring harness to it.

I am in the process of installing the TP and spoiler lighting. Lighting is last, but here is the dilemma: The Connector under the left cover is a 3 wire like the standard taillight harness and uses male spades to connect. The Duescht (sp) connector has 4 wires.

So much for plug and play.

i used the supplied deutsch  connector, got a y(standard part) and hooked it up to the left rear light. :2vrolijk_21:

seems to be more than one way.

now to address the red light of the spoiler vs our stock amber.

TN, whats this standard "Y" connector you speak of?...

If you wire the spoiler/LED per the instructions in the kit, it is plug and play provided you use the connector identified in posts 6 and 7 above which is a four wire Deutsch connector (ground, run, brake, and switched power controlled by the ACC switch).

The Air Wing luggage rack LED provides two ways to wire it.  One uses a Y-harness inside the tour pak for connecting to the wiring harness inside the tour pak for those equipped with tour pak lights.  The Y-harness is not available for separate sale and uses AMP connectors.  The other wiring alternative uses the accessory connector under the seat.

If you want to use the Y-harness but don't have a wiring harness inside the tour pak, you can extend the wires to reach the bike's tour pak wiring harness under/near the left side cover.

The Air Wing luggage rack LED uses a diffent electrical connection on the bike (either inside the tour pak if it has a harness for tour pak lights, or the bke's tour pak wiring harness under the left side cover which is a three-wire Amp connector (ground, run, and brake).
Ran into this with my 06 SG. It maybe that easier to get the ultra harness for the inside of the tourpak and use the Deutch connector. The harness that comes with the airwing light intercepts the harness in the tourpak. Then you only run the one four wire harness to the tourpak. You then have a separate power source for future accessories.  You can get an male-female extension from the MOCO

It would be nice if the color coding for the wires at the connecter matched the wires from the Deutsch connector to the spoiler.

The Manual indicates the 3 wire connector at the fuse box (with the correct wire colors I may add) to be for "Tour Pak".

On another page you will also see the Deutsch connector indicated as P & A Accessory, and this is the location to hookup.

don't have the pt# handy but it's meant to plug in the accessory plug under the seat to provide an additional acc. plug. :nixweiss: i did my KTP the same way for the airwing light. works for me.

The tour pak spoiler/LED wire colors (black, blue, red/yellow) DO match the P&A accessory connector.  The accessory connector does have an extra wire for the switched circuit that the spoiler/LED doesn't have.  Not sure what your spoiler/LED wiring is that would cause the wire colors to be different unless HD changed the wire colors for the spoiler/LED in the past several years.

No it doesnt. The spoiler LED has black, blue, red/yellow (same colors as the tour pack connector). The P &A connector has ORANGE, ORANGE/RED, Black, Red/Yellow.

The service manual shows the color codes and the bike shows the same thing. Lets be clear, the confusion came when I saw someone post the 4 wire was incorrect and no one disputed it.

I'm trying to post up accurate information so others dont encounter the same issues.

Reply 21 has correct information on the wire colors; I've deleted my incorect information in reply 20.

As for assembling the Deutsch connector used with the spoiler/LED, HD avoids dealing with wire colors in the instructions of the P&A connector by directing that the spoiler LED wires be installed in the numbered chambers/cavities of the kit-supplied Deutsch connector as follows:  Blue wire--chamber 1; red/yellow wire--chamber 2; sealing plug--chamber 3; and, black wire--chamber 4.  The numbers are molded into the connector, but are quite small (at least for my tired eyes) so having plenty of light available is a big help.

Very accurate on the numbers on the connector...

I looked repeatedly then finally saw them... they looked kinda like this: ----> this fricking tiny!
