Hey TwoLane, I'm sure you had to remove the bracket to cut the end off and drill the hole for the modification.......didn't you?  My clutch cable was running thru the bracket which is a hassle.  How long (miles) have you had this mod in place?  That should take care of the weak point.  Thanks for the pics.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Don

Those may be pictures of mine from the 03 Classic.
If they are not ,,,I did the same exact thing using some aluminum angle drilled to work.

It's on the right side on mine and I didn't have to Duane.  Was fortunate that it broke off at almost the perfect spot for the repair to go in.  Moved some harness out of the way (remember my inner fairing), cleaned up the edge a bit and bolted the piece in.  Been in mine for two years or so now.

They may very well be Chip.  I just flat don't remember where I got them.  Usually better about document source material.  Missed it on this group.  Hadn't taken any pics of mine when it broke so probably saw these and thought they'd be excellent to fill the pictorial record.

Across the great expanse I just experienced another Howie-thought.  A post from his mind to your eyes.

One problem though.  Can only write "a" "the" "what the" and "THOSE ........!"  All the rest of the words in the surprisingly long thought would be quite rightly censored.

Oh yeah, there was also something about a fairing.  But I didn't get all of that part.

OK, back me up against the wall.
But no strip searches please!
My 03 had this problem, and I used exactly the same solution.
So if those weren't my pictures, the guy that took them was a very smart guy!
And this is coming frome some who is not in the the group of "like minded people".
