golf club carrier
« on: September 29, 2005, 03:04:52 PM »

Has anyone thought about carrying their golf clubs on their bike? Just wondering if there is a quick detach carrier system that people have ran across that still looks half ways decent on the bike.

My thoughts on that are:  leave the clubs/shoes/etc. in a locker at the club, or,  better still, give up the game until you're too old to ride and then carry 'em in your Buick.   Har!  Sidecar anyone?   [smiley=beerchug.gif]   spyder

Back during the 80's I used to carry mine in a trailer behind my Gold Wing.  Used to get some strange looks in the parking lot.  I have seen a golf club carrrier in the back of one of the magazines that holds the golf clubs upright, but it wasn't very pretty and I don't think it would work on a bagger.  Just take the car.  LOL
PS,  I've been in the golf business for 35 years, so I've seen clubs carried about every way possible.  I've also seen them fall off the back of trucks, left laying on the ground in the parking lot, and a few thrown in the lake.  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I have seen two bikes that have a gadget to do this.  The bike needs a trailer hitch.  Plugged in to the receiver was a rack/tray thing with fixed uprights.  The clubs sat in the tray and were held snug to the uprights to keep things from swaying side to side.

Both of these I saw were on Goldwings.  But a receiver hitch is a receiver hitch  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Please note that in use this contraption did look, however, completely lame  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] .

NOw thats a question I never thought I'd hear! You know what they say, now I've heard it all, but truth be told, there is a gadget, I saw it once, but if I see you on the road, dont expect a wave!  [smiley=confused5.gif] [smiley=worthless.gif] [smiley=worthless.gif] [smiley=worthless.gif] [smiley=worthless.gif]

thanks for the suggestions all and probably the best one is just take the car. I thought golfing was for old duffs and the rich but my mechanic buddy got me into it and now I have the bug.

Here is an interesting concept. I have not received a price back yet from them to pass along.  I like the design and the quick detach system.

I throw the cover over the top to keep the clubs from falling out in deep corners, and strap the whole bag across the fairing at the base of the windshield...  just like a dead deer.

PS..  It worked for the deer too! [smiley=7.gif]
