ECM Questions
« on: February 17, 2009, 09:48:27 PM »

Before I start, I have a Service Manual on order, and I have never owned a Bike with an ECM.

So, can someone help me with a few questions...?

Where is it on the 2009 SERG?
I have a Mastertune from Steve at Fullsac...

Will I be connecting this while the bike is running, or connect first?  What are the steps?

Thanks heaps!!!

On the SEUC the plug in is on the left side under the cover in front of the saddle bag. It's the bottom plug. I'd urge you to install the program on your laptop, then run the updater program. After that, read the help files very carefully several times before doing anything on your bike. You'll also want to save the current file in your ecm so you can restore it, if necessary. I'd be happy to talk to you on the phone if you have questions after doing the above. Just send me a private PM. I'm no expert, but I've used the TTS Mastertune to tune 3 of my CVO bikes since August 2008.

I may just take you up on that.  I have installed the four products from the disc, and completed the TTL Updater.  I am currently in the process of taking out the stock cores from my mufflers and installing the fullsac cores.  Probably will be tomorrow before I get to the ECM.

Thanks Bob

Ok , you do the tune , but you would not need it , do you ?
With just cat-remove and fulsac-cores there would be no need for a tune , i thought .

In my opinion you definitely need a tune if you take out the cat and add baffles. Fullsac has shown an 8 HP improvement doing those mods. Thus, way more air is flowing into the cylinders and if the same amount of fuel is being injected without a new tune, your engine will run lean and burn up. Plus, the ECM from the MoCo is delivered to run lean to make the EPA happy, so most people want to run it richer than stock even with no mods.

That's my question. When do you install the map? I have 1 mile on my bike. I am planning on taking a trip South in a couple of weeks and get the break in miles out of the way. Do I install the map before my break in miles or after? I have no CC and Fullsac 2" baffles. Thoughts?

How is the bike sounding with those mods?  How's it feeling?  Did you put those fiberglass sleeve back on or leave it off?  Did you get the Master Tune from Steve or did you do a SERT...?

I love the sound. I did leave the fiberglass in. As far as feel, I have not been able to ride it yet, I live in MN.  Master Tune from Steve.

Is Master tune only a software (map ) that works with the SSERT or SERT or also a hardware-kit ?
or what do you need when you do want it complete ?
Is here a thread allready ?

Here's more info on the TTS products. It's primarily software but you need the TTS dongle to interface between your laptop and the ECM plug on the bike. But there is no permanent hardware that stays on the bike, just the like SERT or SSERT. The TTS is like the SERT but it's more advanced with more features in the program:

Yep, the plug is under the Left side panel on the SERG also.  I installed a base map from my Super Tuner.

OK everyone, thanks for the help!!!  Sorry for acting , well... paranoid and frantic, but I do sweat these things.  It's all good and I did it myself.  I had to bring down the PC, cause the lap top was missing the proper cable port.  (I know there is a USB cable adapter I can buy I did not want to wait).  The bike runs great.  Can't wait for the service manual to arrive.
