2009 CVO center case bolt weeping oil
« on: February 18, 2009, 05:45:23 PM »

MY 2009 CUSE is weeping oil around the center case bolt.  I first noticed it at about 500 miles, and it now has about 2600 miles on it.  It does not appear to be getting worse at this point.  Wasn't this one of the "product enhancement" issues the MoCo was to have fixed with the '08 recall?  Is anyone else noticing this?  What does it mean?

The "enhancement" program replaced the center case bolt with one that had a seal under the head to stop the oil seepage.  It sounds like perhaps they used the old style bolt on your engine, or maybe the seal got damaged during installation.  Shouldn't be a big deal to get this fixed, just have the dealer replace the bolt.

One big problem with the center case bolt is over tightening.

This will cause the jugs to leak between the two.

Happens when people install some kind of chrome and use the center bolt.

I haven't done anything that would involve the bolt so it must be the seal. I hope I didn't get a left over defective engine.
