I purchased my 07 FXSTSSE with 900 miles already on it. The engine enhancement was already done before I purchased. I changed exhaust and installed a big breather and SE race tuner. I now have about 2,300 miles witout any problems. It puts out 98 hp. and 123 ft. torque. It is very fun to ride.

I had the enhancement done in October. Put 150 miles on the seat the new rings then parked for the winter. Made the first trip to Solvang and blew the head gasket on the way back. This time got oil and bird chirping until warmed up. So dropped off at the Dealer that did the enhancement and waiting to see if any more damage other than the gasket.

Rooster,

First ride of the year and you blow the head gasket, huck. Hope they fix it quickly and you get back on the rode.

Yep, third one and last one for me. Ordered a Jim's 131 yesterday and trying to decide on the rest of the parts to get them ordered. It will be here in about 2 weeks. :bananarock:

I have done everything i can think of to cool this beast off. I have replaced the cams (red shift 575) and added a T-max, changed the pipes (Rhinehart 2-1) and installed a S&S single bore tuned intake. I have had zippers tune the bike twice and it is still on fire. Head temp is way north of 350deg and its not even summer yet. I am not sure i would fork over my hard earned cash for this engine again. Will be at zippers and my dealer on Tuesday.....I can't see riding this thing to Sturgis at this point.

Took delivery of my FXSTSSE2 on May 23, '08. Recieved the letter and two local dealers say it was built after the 13th. I have just shy of 5K miles on it  and now I have drivetrain noise that is new. No leaks yet though! Runs hot as ... and am looking to install XiED's as I can't stand the rear cylinder shut-off or the backfire through the intake. The dealers tell my they can't/won't fix the problem because in can't be duplicated. My favorite was when they said "it's normal". Thankfully I found this forum or I'd be like a puppy chasing his tail.

I had the head, ACR, gas pump recall done on it.  No leaks at 4,000 miles.

It's a bit cold blooded now and I need to let it warm up 15 seconds or so before try to drive.  Otherwise it bucks a bit and if I give it gas when it does take off it is hang on time in a lower gear.  Doing a wheelie in my neighborhood on my bagger was not my intent when I headed to work on Monday...

Not sure if any of the recalls caused this or my bike getting indigestion on German gas...

I'm turning 14.5K miles and all is well.

Megavolt...no fuel-injected bike should act "cold-blooded"....I let mine run for 15-20 sec or so just to let the oil circulate up to the heads, but I can jet off anytime.  Sounds like you need a retune on the dyno.

Another part of the equation that should be considered if you ever want to do a more scientific poll would concern whether or not tuning mods were made to reduce temperatures.  Since the high temps of the rear cylinder seem to be what takes this borderline design and tips it over the edge, you would expect to see fewer problems on those bikes which were modified early on and more issues on those left totally stock.  As far as I know, H-D didn't change the design of the cylinders and they haven't made the rear cylinder run any cooler, so they are basically relying on the third/fourth generation of the head gasket (and maybe some part quality improvements) to fix the issue for the time being.  I can't help but wonder if that would have worked if it were no longer possible for people to bypass the emissions system to cool that rear cylinder down.  I really think a large percentage of the so-called "fix" is being supplied by the bike owner's themselves when they add tuning devices.

Amen to that Jerry - I put on a SERT and had 'er dynoed at 700 miles on the clock. Could be part of my success (plus having the 2nd gen gasket).  Not sure about my ACRs - on a 390 mile trip, she balked at starting twice.  I'll let the warranty take care of things if something breaks.

Well,  from experience with my 2001 injected RK (Old style M&M EFI),  I would agree with that comment...however, my (dyno tuned) 2009 SE Ultra is COLD BLOODED........takes a few minutes to settle down and does buck, etc. for the first several minutes. :cherry:
