Seats
« on: February 27, 2009, 02:38:08 PM »

I'm looking for a seat that will get me lower to the ground.  I know about the "Easy Reach" seat.  I'm just wondering if Mustang or someone else makes one for us short people.  Thanks, Dean.

I had Chuck at www.ccseats.com make a seat for me. It lower me a good inch and is extremely comfortable for all day riding. As deep as it is, I have no need for a back rest although it is set up for one! This one was done with a custom insert.
I have a 29 inch inseam and sit flat footed with this!

What was the cost of that seat if you mind me asking.  Thanks, Dean.

Dean,

The base leather Sport Tour is $365. $100 for back rest w/hardware. My snake pattern inserts was $120.00 So $585.00. I got a discount as it was my second seat from him. He does this seat in a flame pattern. Could probably match you scooter's color. See stores.shop.ebay.com/C-C-Motorcycle-Seats__W0QQ_armrsZ1 for some examples from his eBay store. I dealt with him direct. Get customer service. We had a UPS problem that Chuck took care of.  ;)

As nice as your scooter is, she deserves a custom seat!

Are you running the adjustable air shocks (on board aircompressor)? You can slam it on the fly and adjust your ride height. I put legends on mine and it works great getting it real low with being able to adjust while riding with a great ride. C & C makes a nice seat but I (&the Mrs.) needed a little more cushion so went with a Saddleman explorer (has the gel inserts). If not having the ability to lower the bike I could probably not be able to use the explorer seat.

Jeff,

If I remember correctly the Legends are very expensive.  They would be perfect for my issue though.  So, I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible.

  JW,

Did you have to install a new screw insert for the solo seat?

Nope. The solo seat comes with a nifty mounting kit.

Of course you can get a pillon for your BSR. I had the stock passenger backrest recovered to match the new design.
Do the 07's paint jobs extend under the passenger seat?

The gold leaf ends at the back of the seat.  Which sucks.

Dean,

Let me know if you go with the C&C. I might too. I'm on a Mustang, which is great for long rides, but I need to be a little lower.

On Melanies FLHX we put the Arnott legend air shocks, A corbin close seat to which they added an additional extra 1" forward foam and trimmed the sides down as far as they could to bring her legs closer to the bike. Also put 1" shorter springs in the front.
I had previously tried rear lowering blocks on the rear but even at 115 lbs., she still managed to rip out the rear wiring harness.
