I have the same bike, and in my mind the issue is the seat height. I have changed the stocks shocks for 11,5" Progressive 440's, and presto - everything is working out fine.

Ride safely,
Louis
Hi Louis can you tell me if the shocks you have are a HD part or aftermarket and did you fit them or get it done at the dealer. I think it would be good to lower the bike a couple of inches.

Hi Jim,
all information needed is in this thread: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=31428.43
Look at my reply #43, it has the details on what I bought and where.

The dealer fitted them, it only takes a couple of minutes.

Hope this helps!

Ride safely,
Louis

I have this problem also.  I am 5'9", 180 # with a short inseam.  I have to be off the bike to move it anywhere.  I installed HD short suspension and that lowered it .75 inches at the rear axle so maybe .5 inches at the floor boards.  Not enough.  To  move it around the garage backward, left hand is on the left grip, right hand on the vertical part of the rider's seat and my hip supports the left side of the seat.   Push with your legs, not back. Watch for rivets in jean pockets.  Don't want to scratch that $5000+ paint.    I have to go back and forth short distances to turn it so I can ride it out of the garage.  It is a drag compared to my RK which had a lower COG and 200+ #s lighter.

Other method moving it back is to make sure kick stand is down and locked, leave the bike leaned over on the stand and place both hands on the front of the faring and push it around on the stand.  Two wheels and stand make a solid triangle.  Concrete floor has to be fairly smooth.  This won't work over  floor cracks.

Bottom line is that it is a pain and the older I get, well, we will see.  Hope this helps.  I work out three times per week just so I can do this.   >:(

If you are in need to turn the bike in the garage, there are devices like the one pictured, which make this quite easy.

Progressive 440 HD 11.5" on their way from The USA. I tried to get the same parts in the UK but the dealer wanted £890 plus £80 to fit them.
Thanks for the advise Louis as I got them for 540 USD shipped which is great. I got the chrome version and hopefully they will arrive within the next week or so.
Hopefully with the feet a little more planted the manouvering will be a little easier??

How long did it take to get yours delivered?
Not that I am impatient but I think it will make the ride a whole lot more enjoyable.

Cheers

so the new shocks are on order and when i install them, I'll let y'all know how it comes out :2vrolijk_21:

I'm really struggling with the height of mine too - and I'm only 5'5½"!  CUSE was fine, so was the CUSE2, but the CUSE4 is just too much of a stretch.  I'd been thinking about the same 1" shorter shox as you - have you got them on now, and how is it?  Does it bottom out?  Much lower feeling?

I think I know exactly what Jim is dealing with.  When you hang out at a dealership you will see guys who might be 5'8" and 150 lbs. soaking wet moving the bikes around the showroom or rolling them out the door while walking beside the bike.  They don't seem to have any problems doing it, and I've never seen one of them drop one yet.  I used to stop by a Honda/Ducati/etc. place where they moved 90% of the bikes out into the lot every morning and then back into the showroom every evening, and when it was quitting time those guys literally whipped those bikes back into the building with nary a hiccup.

I haven't personally gotten up the nerve to try this since my bikes broke the 700 pound barrier, and definitely not since I bought the SEEG.  It has to be technique, because like I said some of the folks I've seen doing it in dealerships are smaller than me.  Maybe it has something to do with not actually owning the bike in question that makes it so easy for those guys at the dealership. :confused5:

Jerry

I thought it was just me that was scared to do that, Jerry!  :)  Like you say, I've watched them wheel the bikes around all over the shop - even run with them to get them up a trailer ramp!  I'm scared to try moving it for a few inches, and reading this thread makes me happy that others are the same!

New shox on their way from the USA, just being cleared by UK Customs now. Cant wait to get them fitted as being more flat footed will certainly help with handling the weight better.

Yes, I've got a set of the 1" shorter Street Glide ones (same as the "Profile" lowered ones in the P&A catalogue) on their way too, should have them next week.  What ones are you getting Jim?

I went for the Progressive 440 HD 11.5" as advised by Louis. He had them fitted and was very pleased with the result. I used the dealer he recommended and got a very good price compared to the UK (over half price). Dealer will fit them when they arrive then I should be sorted until I find something else to spend some money on and when viewing this site the ideas come very quickly :)

Fit them yourself, Jim!  Simplest job on the bike. :-)

I'm working in Ireland and the bikes in the UK so thought if dealer did it it would be ready for me to just hop on and enjoy when I get home at the weekend. Plus if I fitted it I dont think the wife would get on the back. :)
