Hello to everyone,
finally a message after a year reading and most of all learning a lot about the bikes. Sorry about that, it was way too long but I think most of us started this way...
My name is Klaas and I live near Amsterdam in the Netherlands-Europe, my proud ride is a '04 SEEG B/B which I purchased two years ago in the Amsterdam dealership were my wife is working in the clothing department. I traded in a Nighttrain, my first Harley which I bought new there in '05. But, I've been riding since '82, first on small enduro bike and the last 10 years on a way too fast+200mile Jap killerbike...love the German Autobahns, only 1.5 hours from my house !!!
After some not bike involved accidents my left ankle was fixed with screws and riding on a race bike is no longer possible, so finally there was a good excuse to buy the real thing !!! Although I had a lot of fun on the Nighttrain I started looking for a new Street Glide when the old owner of the SEEG thought: 3 years and 8000 miles is time for a new one, lucky me because the price for such a new bike is very high overhere and there are only a few for sale !!
So, now I'm reading a lot about the changes you all make to the bikes and dream about all the new goodies emptying the wallet but I can say it's my wife who's working there....end of discussion !!
Since the Dollar is some friendlier to the Euro we also spent two fantastic hollidays in the States, three years ago we started in New York and after a week we drove up North to Niagara Falls and then down under the Great Lakes to Milwaukee, taking our time and always visiting a lot of HD dealerships for a memory t-shirt and a real good time. We don't like to drive on the Interstates, only smaller roads if it's possible so you see a lot more. We normally stay about three weeks so there's no rush at all.
Last year we flew to Miami and drove up, again to Milwaukee to visit the 105th, awesome party !! Last week we purchased tickets to Seattle for this years holliday in August/September and will drive to Milwaukee again, we will be flying back home to Amsterdam from Chicago.
So, this is me and my very short story up until now, the picture is from the bike when it was for sale at the dealership , many thanks for all the knowledge and maybe we'll meet on our next trip in the States ??
Ride hard but safe, Klaas.
