CVO FLHX
« on: March 03, 2009, 08:57:14 PM »

Guys I had to do this to my FLHX after seeing the SERG's rear look.   What I have is a 08 Street Glide that I have placed the same Dunlop 180/55-18 from the SERG on the rear.  The wheel is a polished blank , my BIL made the wheel hubs for me, its a 18x 5 1/2".  Not having quite enough room within the stock fender. I purchased a 2009 FLHX rear fender and narrowed it to fit in the frame rails of the 08, as well as filling the holes from the tail light and turn signals. Look closely at the rear chrome frame piece and you can see where I narrowed the fender.  I first thought I would buy a SERG's facia and lighting.  Then I decided that I would like to have the FLHX Tri light bar, so I compromised and purchased a pair of LED lights from a street rod shop and a Kury LED license plate light.  Its been a little project this winter.  Should have paint on the primer by weeks end and if time permits bolted back up this weekend.   I have filled the antenna holes in the facia since this picture.

I have purchased a SERG seat from a forum member here too.  I would think HD could build a "SESG" marrying the two as I have done. Next up is to mill a front 18" wheel design into a wheel blank, I have the matching Dunlop front from a SERG too.

Already made my comments on another forum.........this is going to look very nice and I can't wait to see the finished bike.

I went down a couple months ago and placed a deposit (along with Jonga from this site) on a 2010 CVO hoping like hell that it's going to be either another Screamin Eagle Electra Glide or a Screamin Eagle Street Glide.  I'm hoping that the Ultra Classic has ran it's course.

Not to take away from your post and your mods, but I've done a little research on the Street Glide (I thought it might have moved to first place for Harley's most popular bagger.  It's second place but I'm thinkin it might move to first place in 09 due to the new chassis (cross overs from the softail line):

The FLHX is not the best selling Bagger, but it’s close to the Ultra.

Here are some rounded volumes for comparison (2008):

            FLHTCU            ~30,000+          Ultra

            FLHX                ~25,000+          Street Glide

            XL1200N           ~15,000+          Nightster

            FLSTC              ~15,000+          Heritage Classic

            FLHRC              ~15,000+          RK Classic

            XL1200C           ~10,000+          1200 Custom

            FLSTF              ~10,000+          Fatboy

            FXDF                ~10,000+          Fat Bob

            FXDB                ~10,000+          Street Bob

            FLHR                ~10,000            Road King

Why stop producing the Ultra?
It is the best selling bike they have.
I know about the two year thing but after two years of pleather and two years of plastic I'm betting they come up with something that will make it different but still an Ultra.

In a discussion with sales at Bakersfield on the way home from Hilmar he said his contact at the MOCO said the SEUC will never end. Sells too well. I know, we'll see, just what he said.

Lapse of communication on my part Chip.  I don't think they should stop producing the Ultra Classic......I meant that I hope the Screamin Eagle Ultra Classic has run it's course.  Simply because I and many others would like to see a Screamin Eagle Street Glide.  I don't think they'd do both at the same time, that's all.  It appears y this thread and the comments in it that plenty of people are waiting for it.

While the SEUC is a very nice bike in it's own right (especially the 09s), so are the other CVO models.  There's just a desire for something different.

Ok, I have to add my .02, As much as I've done to my sesg i would still like to see one that MoCo could put together. I can't decide what I want to do with my deposit, serg/seuc/or maybe sesg guess we just have to wait and see. That would be July 23 or 24th correct ?  :orange: :nixweiss: :coolblue:

Beautiful job.  I can't wait to see it when it's all done.  Are you planning on adding the bag extensions too?  Is there any way to eliminate that chrome bar that crosses the rear fender?

Timberland, you got me thinking about what the MoCos gonna do this year...... Your mods look great on your sesg, just a thought I put the stealth luggage rack from the 05 seeg which I thought was an improvement over stock rear seat bar. I really like your light setup. Great Job  :orange:  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Yip, JC you're on to something there (I hope). I would definitely go for a Screamin Eagle Street Glide. Jon has a head start on that approach and it looks great. Just my /02 cents.

Was.......was the best selling bike.  Street Glide just took the lead!  Don't ask me how I know, but you can take it to the bank. :2vrolijk_21:
