Cam drive sproket bolt (sheared in two).
« on: March 05, 2009, 12:03:45 AM »

Well, finally got the SERK back tonight...yes! Sure felt good is an understatement. I posted this initial issue here, http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=33720.0 Come to find out, (very hard to detect) the cam drive sproket bolt was sheared in two, but stayed in place. Tech said, he couldn't find anything wrong untill he started backing off bolts and found the above. He said there was a slight scaring on one of the bearing (cam) so replaced all with a cam kit. He also replaced the oil pump.

Q. Now I have a 72 Corvette LT-1 with a Isky solid lifter cam... when I rebuilt that engine, I had to break in that cam...1500 RPM for about 20 min's. Do these cams need broke in? Thanks in advance! Muddy

Oh btw: They also installed 906 and checked run out...0.005

No need for a break in on the cam but if they did new rings with the "upgrade" you need to follow normal break in procedures.

Thanks HD...no new rings, but... is in the works. I say this as all the powder coating is coming off the fins, and five or six places on the case's! Bike feels strong though! Muddy
