We are home from 4 days in Daytona and 1149.3 miles later.
Since this is the ride report section here's my ride report.
Weather,
We left Matthews NC on Wednesday morning at 7:00am and it was 18 degrees.
The original plan was to leave at 6 am but the sun hadn't come up and it was 14 degrees.
So we waited till it was a balmy 18 to leave.
It finally warmed up to above freezing when we hit the Florida state line.
Thank God for heated grips, seat and electric clothes.
Thursday and Friday in Daytona was great. Highs around 78 and low 60's at night.
The ride home today started with a jacket and sweatshirt but ended with just a T-shirt. The temp was around 80.
Just can't ask for better weather coming home.
The bike,
WOW, love that 09 SEUC.
We rode to Daytona running 80 to 85 most of the way. (but it was cold)
Coming back home was at the same speed but for some reason gas mileage was better coming back than going down.
We averaged 36 to 37 mpg running home.
I have determined that my SEUC is not a "get stuck in traffic bike".
And in Daytona there is lots of traffic.
Wow it gets hot, but didn't seem to not affect it. But it does affect my pants. The bike is tall, the legs are short and the D&D will burn your pants.
But the bike ran great and the pipe is still clean.
The Floating Palace,
A friend from this site offered us a place to stay in Daytona.
He said it was a boat, docked close to Main Street.
I was just hoping it wasn't a canoe.
It wasn't.
We had a blast and the boat was first class all the way! (Thanks buddy)
What we did there,
One of the reasons for going to Daytona was to check out the Nolan Helmets and all the related Bluetooth setups and hookups.
We found Nolan at Destination Daytona in the vendor section.
We bought two of the newest and latest helmets out (silver of course) and the dealer CIMA charged the bluetooth for each over night.
The plan was to be like my hero "AJ" and have the phone connected to the GPS and the GPS hooked to the helmets so I could use the cell while riding.
Also the helmets have intercom so even when we are on different bikes Nancy and I could still talk between ourselves.
It seemed like a great plan, the only problem was, it didn't work. They worked on the pairing and mating for three hours and couldn't get it to work.
We also had my Technology Consultant (cause I'm a dummy) Mr. Tbone from the site and he worked with the guys and still no cigar.
Everything would pair up but as soon as a call was made everything would disconnect and unpair from each other.
Not sure why it didn't work but eventually they refunded my money and all was well. We were disappointed but I guess it wasn't meant to be at that time.
We also hung out on main street and that place was packed. No recession in Daytona this past week. We were looking for Screaming Eagles and site members.
We got to meet Puzzled and his friend. Main street was to crowded and we could hardly move thru the crowd.
Side note's,
It has become very common for my right hand to start tingling like it's going asleep when I'm riding. When we were in Greenville SC a few weeks a go, there was a company called QWI,,
www.qwinerveprotector.com that was selling gloves that supposedly stopped the tingling in your hand. They had the typical "dog and pony show" that talked about how great their product is. I looked for a minute then started to walk on. Bob (Tbone) said I needed to try them. Sure Bob I said, just one more thing to spend money on.
Bob said, "No really these gloves work, my fingers were going numb till I bought these gloves, they are great. OK, OK, I bought them. Guess what? Bob is right, they work!
Used them for 450 miles today,,,,,,,NO numbness or tingling. I took them off at the last gas stop to see if it would come back. No gloves, hand gets numb. Great product!
Will probably get a couple pair of these gloves.
So in summary, we had a blast, the bike ran great and after a long cold winter Nancy, me and the 09 SEUC needed a long ride.
And we had a great one!
