Do I have a heavy hand ??
« on: March 08, 2009, 09:01:12 PM »

Soozie and I went for a ride today, filled the gas tanks and checked to see just how far we could go before we ran out totally. I could only make about 175 miles. Before I had to start shaking the tank back in forth!  Is that about average for the 04 & 05 Seeg's :nixweiss:

Don tell us a little more about what type of riding you were doing... all back roads, stop/go, all highway? Your mileage doesn't sound bad if it was a combination. That's about what I"m getting. :nixweiss: My light usually comes on around 160 miles.

My '05 and '07 FLTR's both got about 175 miles to a 5-gallon tank. Sometimes a little more when cruising at a slower speed. I got >50mpg on my '07 cruising on The Natchez Trace 18 months ago. The speed limit is 55, sometimes a little less and there aren't a lot of big hills. So, I set the cruise on 55 in 6th and just lumbered along. Around town I get about 35mpg with stop and go city driving. The trip to Sturgis last year netted about 37-38mpg riding two-up in a variety of conditions from two-lane highways to city traffic to >80mph Interstate cruising.

My wife's '07 FLSTC gets more like 40-41mpg on the road. But she's not riding two-up and her bike is about 100lbs lighter than mine, maybe 150+ fully loaded.

I don't think you did too bad on a 5-gallon tank.

I'm looking for gas at 140 miles.  I can squeeze 155 out of it but I'm desperate at that point.  I seem to run out before anybody I know on a SEEG.  They tell me that has something to do with the way I ride..........but I'm not heavy handed.   :huepfenlol2:

160 miles.........hell, it's time to bring it over to Sacramento Raceway and run it down the 1/4 mile! :2vrolijk_21:      :apple: :carrot: :jalapeno: :cucumber: :pineapple: :pepper: :orange: :mango: :bananarock:

See even the fruit and vegtables got excited about that idea. :)
