Well this sucks!  Guess we need to write to our representatives, or register the bikes out of state.

no guns (well good ones at least), no lead ammo, no MC's with altered exhausts...

I can NEVER be stationed in Kalifornia.

Does that mean we have to lean the heck out our bikes for 10 mins every year? I can deal with that  :P Now if they require a complete OEM EPA equipment check, OMG, we're all in trouble.  :(

That is correct, Stanislaus Co. doesnot have a smog check, that is why we register our vehicles up there. Upon a sale, you still have to get a smog check though. I would think Mariposa Co. is the same. Hopefully this bill will not pass, but if it does, it should remain the same as autos.

Make sure you complain to your legislators about the cost.  Vehicle registration fees are about to double, sales tax is rising, gasoline tax is going up, and this will add another $50. to the already high cost of registering a vehicle.  Just another expense in a bad economy.

Like we need any more reason to flee the Republic of California! Just raised my taxes an extra $1,200.00 a year, yes that is above what I already give. Now lets pay for a smog cert that you never see.

Karumba, well I guess it was bound to happen. I gave my e-motor 98 RG to my kid so at least he doesn't have to sweat it.  Doc

Unfortuantely I just registered my bike from Nevada to CA. It won't be that difficult to register it back in Nevada. I did write my senator as well. These clowns are making our neighboring states much more attractive on a daily basis!

California may require motorcycles to be smogged
« Reply #13 on: March 21, 2009, 01:40:07 PM »

FYI, California may soon require motorcycles to be smogged. This is the story in The Sacramento Bee

http://www.sacbee.com/capitolandcalifornia/story/1705094.html

This will sure make it expensive to keep your bike registered in California

That's all we need, additional fees and taxes.........our stupid legislators probably deem this a 'Sin tax' on motorcycles.
Hopefully level heads and public outcry will stop these fools from raising any taxes, but to the in-power party (not getting too political here I hope  ;D ) eveyone is game.

 :drink:

Time for a beer, oh wait there is a "enjoyment tax" coming on that as well!  :huepfenjump3:
