Tour pack power lock.
« on: March 20, 2009, 04:39:12 PM »

I'm ready to pick-up my 09 CUSE, finally the weather is cooperating. When I purchased it in January I noticed the striker on the tour-pack was boogered up, it was the striker where the power lock fastens. I told the Sales Manager about it and he said he would handle it. I spent the last couple days calling the dealer and making sure it was handled before I get the bike, of course no one knew what I was talking about. Then finally service called me back and said he had a Tech looking at it right now and nothing was wrong. I described the problem and he said all the CVO Ultra latches were like that, I asked how he looked at every Ultra Cvo to claim that, you only see a couple a year around my area. Yes I am a smart asstronaut . This dealer is an hour and a half drive and I don't wanna get there and find it not correct. My question is ( finally) has anybody had problems with their power locks? Do the strikers get nicked/cut up? Should I be asking you this after spending 38,000 on a bike? Shouldn't they be wanting me to buy another bike from them? lol

I assume that you are referring to the plastic block that the locking mechanism attaches to.  If so, the first time I looked at mine, I was surprised that they used a piece of plastic as part of a lock mechanism.  I also noticed that it looked like it was scored from the lock sliding across it.  I'd like to think that it's OK, and not as cheap as it appears!

Exactly Woode, it looks kinda scraped, and was out of adjustment. The pak wouldn't latch, called them back and they said they adjusted it and now it locks. Why didn't HD use sumthin that wears more efficiently. Think I will make them replace it and then fab my own outta aluminum. Thanks for the input guys.

On mine one of the saddle bag latches was not locking correctly. The little motor seemed to be too weak. In case I'll get a new lock when I take the bike in for the first service.

Ride safely,

Hi, I don't even use my power locks anymore. Had the dealer fix them one last time and then said f#$k it..
That, to me, has been the one big pain for me.. They only worked half the time originally, then I would have to lock
by hand.. Bought the "skull" key and have been pretending the power locks do not exist.. I don't like the "big key"
supplied, clogs up my pocket..

Mine's a little scuffed up, it looks like the lid doesn't always align properly with the catch.  It hasn't been a problem other than a little cosmetic damage.  The locks always work fine.

My tour pak latch (plastic part) broke, and the wires in one of the saddle bag connectors came out of the housing, both were repaired under warranty.  The latch took about 3 weeks to get the part so I fixed with Gorilla glue until the part came in...it worked...
