How do you clean and wax the nooks and crannies
« on: March 23, 2009, 08:24:49 PM »

I bought a Pit Bull lift.  Good and bad news.  I now see a bunch of stuff I haven't been cleaning.  How do you reach the nooks and crannies to clean and to wax?  I can't believe a Q-tip will do it.  Thanks.

This is the best bike cleaning tool for nooks and crannies that I've ever seen or used.  Works great and not expensive either!

You think the lift is bad......get one of those portable shop lights, put it on extra high/bright and pull it right up to your scooter and you'll swear that you scooter has never been as dirty.  What looks clean under regular garage lights will turn 'ugly' under those bright/close lights.   :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:  spyder

Thanks for the ideas.  How not to get obsessed over this.  I bought the bike to ride it, but I enjoy the detailing part, too.  Something about buffing it up that's enjoyable.

Looks like detailing will be my agenda for tomorrow afternoon, since we're expecting some turd floating rain........and hail.   :o
Need to go get some more B&T tho'.
Was hoping the Purple Bike's Lindby TwinBar would show up today, so I could get it installed this weekend.  No joy from the UPS man, except he did finally bring my SPSS software, which I'll need while working on my Graduate Capstone Project.  That stuff will wait until Sunday tho'.
Renea leaves Sunday morning to visit with her Brother who, together with his wife, welcomed their new Baby Girl, Lillie Grace, earlier this week.  Then, next Thursday she travels to Jackson, TN to go through firearms training again for her job.  They make her qualify with a Sig Sauer P229, which is a fine weapon, but her hands are so tiny that she can barely get a grip on it.  She's been practicing with one at the range we use, and has developed a technique now, so hopefully she'll pass this time.  Won't see her again until the day after my surgery, 17 April.  Looks like Stef gets to take me to The Surgery Center on 16 April............crap.............I'm rambling.

Anyway, you guys have a great weekend.  I'll be in the garage for at least tomorrow afternoon.  Bikes are clean, but there is always something to be done.  You know the deal.

WOW, a 229 is what I carry. Her qualifying with that is dumb!

Your right, they may be clean, , , , , but they are never done!
And if we think they are, we just take a little ride and start over.

Yessir.........even the powdercoated area of the swingarm in front of the rear fender.  I get in there with electrician's tweezers and pull the small stones and other crud out of the small recessed areas on top of the transmission housing........tunes cranked.......cold beer..........great therapy.   :2vrolijk_21:  After all they are so much more to me than "just bikes."

Agree about qualifying with a P229.  It has a huge frame.  I really like the weapon, but the darn thing is too big for her.  Renea has a Glock 19, a Glock 26 (Baby Glock), and a Springfield Armory XD-9 Sub-Compact.....all of which she handles very competently.  Wish they'd let her qualify with one of those.

I don't find getting to everything to clean to be the biggest pain.  Some areas are pretty difficult to get to, but it's getting to them after it's dry to polish things and get rid of water spots that takes all of the time for me.

But isn't that when the real cleaning takes place?   :drink: spyder
